Best Book App EVER.
I have been an avid reader for my entire life. Since 2020, I have been searching for the book app that felt right to me, and none fit it. And as I grew and learned more about AI and how so many of the main book apps use it, I felt like I wasn’t going to find anything that fit perfectly into my preferences. But PageBound was sent down from the Instagram heavens and I’ve never been so grateful.
The community is so welcoming and active, the whole app is colorful and catches your eye, and there is so much to do that encourages reading. I’ve never felt connected to so many readers at once, and I have read more in this one year of using PageBound than I think at any other point in my life. This app will change your reading life! 🫶

Fun app, but better organization and moderation is needed
I generally enjoy Pagebound, but I think its discussion features are increasingly giving the bad sides of Reddit when they would benefit so much more from being structured more like old-school forums.
Short-lived and repetitive posts inundate PB Club and then get lost in the void after a few hours. Meanwhile, quotes, reactions, questions, and substantive discussions on book forums all compete in essentially the same space, mostly sorted by percentage of the book’s page count. Since repeat posts are discouraged, you have to sift through all of this to find and engage with existing discussions. Users will also flag posts they feel aren’t engaging with the forums “the right way” which can include unpopular takes or anything that they think “doesn’t foster discussion.”
I really wish PB would implement forum-style subsections. Book forums could have separate areas for quotes, reactions, questions, and discussions, while PB Club could have sections for book chatter, recommendations, FAQs/help, general discussion, upcoming releases, etc. Older threads could remain active and discoverable while casual conversation also has its own place.
I also think this would improve the community culture. Right now, too much organization is informally enforced through heavy downvoting with little explanation or by highly active users telling others where or how they should post. Better structure would reduce repetitive content without requiring users to police one another, which can make the community feel rigid and unwelcoming.
I’d also love a true mute option so users can curate whose content they see without having to block someone and having to see “comment unavailable” all over the place.

I love using this app to track my reading. Tried several others but this is the one that stuck with me. Cute and easy to use design and a reading tracker that keeps me motivated.
