Fun app, but better organization and moderation is needed
I generally enjoy Pagebound, but I think its discussion features are increasingly giving the bad sides of Reddit when they would benefit so much more from being structured more like old-school forums.
Short-lived and repetitive posts inundate PB Club and then get lost in the void after a few hours. Meanwhile, quotes, reactions, questions, and substantive discussions on book forums all compete in essentially the same space, mostly sorted by percentage of the book’s page count. Since repeat posts are discouraged, you have to sift through all of this to find and engage with existing discussions. Users will also flag posts they feel aren’t engaging with the forums “the right way” which can include unpopular takes or anything that they think “doesn’t foster discussion.”
I really wish PB would implement forum-style subsections. Book forums could have separate areas for quotes, reactions, questions, and discussions, while PB Club could have sections for book chatter, recommendations, FAQs/help, general discussion, upcoming releases, etc. Older threads could remain active and discoverable while casual conversation also has its own place.
I also think this would improve the community culture. Right now, too much organization is informally enforced through heavy downvoting with little explanation or by highly active users telling others where or how they should post. Better structure would reduce repetitive content without requiring users to police one another, which can make the community feel rigid and unwelcoming.
I’d also love a true mute option so users can curate whose content they see without having to block someone and having to see “comment unavailable” all over the place.

Beware, it’s deeply gloomy
For a place so pretty a peculiar level of teenage misery inhabits it, but don’t it always seem to go🤷🏼♀️An unparalleled haven for bullying, intimidation and dogpiling. Largely unhelpful if you’re wanting to discuss books and book-adjacent topics which should be the purpose. it’s anti ai stance and pretty colors are the only good thing I can say truly say about it. It could benefit from higher levels of moderating, and a removal of the random downvote button😂 Deleted account and app.

a brilliant beautiful app that improves my reading experience so much - every aspect of it is so incredibly tailored to obvious input from passionate readers, and the interface is so cute!
Book haven
What a lovely and inclusive little hideyhole in the bookverse. Feels like old-school Tumblr, but with quests and streaks. And the aesthetic is magical.

I cant recommend this app enough! I had reread one series and read one new one way earlier this year before I downloaded this app, and now I’ve finished 14 books just this month and read every single day except one! It’s so helpful to have an app that tracks your progress, lets you write forum posts and see others thoughts on whatever you’re reading, and has so many fun quests and lists of new books! You’re connecting with an entire community of like-minded people who love reading just as much as you, and it has helped to bring back my habit from childhood of maxing out my library checkouts and reading every single day; I’m super grateful for this app (I also love that they’re staunchly against AI features).
