About
Red and green paint make brown. Red and green light make yellow!
Color Mixing Play lets you mix the same two colors as paint and as light, side by side, and see how differently they turn out. You can also pour colored water, mix paint and overlap colored lights.
■ Compare – paint vs light
The top half is paper with paint, the bottom half is a dark wall with light. Drag two circles together and they move in both halves at once. Where they overlap you see the paint color and the light color together, with a "Same!" or "Different!" stamp, and both names are read aloud.
• Red, yellow, green, blue and white: 10 pairs to try
• Paint gets darker as you mix it, light gets brighter
• Red and yellow make orange both ways. Can you find the other pair that matches?
■ Lab – colored water
Drag a bottle over the glass and pour. The colors swirl together in a real-time liquid animation, and the name of the new color pops up and is read aloud.
• Start with red, yellow, blue, white and black
• Stir the glass with your finger to mix it faster
• Bottle a color you made, keep it on your shelf and mix it again later
• Tap an empty spot on the shelf to pick any color and try "What if I mix these two?" right away
■ Paint – mix and draw
Squeeze paint from 12 tubes into the dish and stir it with your finger. When the color is ready, draw on the paper with it. Wash the dish and make another color.
■ Light – mixing light
Shine red, green and blue lights on the wall. Paint gets darker the more you mix it, but light gets brighter: red and green make yellow, and all three make white. Each light switches between strong, weak and off, so there are even more colors to find.
■ Color book
Every new color you find is added to your color book: 39 water and paint colors, 26 light colors and 10 paint-vs-light pairs. Tap a color to see how you made it.
■ Easy to use
• Pictures and big buttons, hardly any text
• Sound and voice can be turned off in the menu
• No account needed
