A key challenge is immune aging: the progressive decline and remodelling of immune function that not only increases susceptibility to infections, but also contributes to chronic inflammation, reduced resilience, frailty, and a higher risk of non-communicable diseases. The Palio Meeting 2026 will explore the role of vaccines beyond the prevention of specific infectious diseases, focusing on their potential contribution to immune resilience and healthy longevity.
