About

Panchang: Hindu Calendar works out the panchang — the panchangam — for the exact place you are, not for New Delhi. Most Hindu calendar apps quietly assume India. If you live in California, London, Sydney or Singapore, that assumption can put your tithi, your muhurat and sometimes your Ekadashi on the wrong day. This app computes everything topocentrically, from your own latitude, longitude and time zone, so what you read is true where you are standing. EVERY DAY • Tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana and vara — each with the time it begins and ends • Sunrise, sunset, moonrise and moonset for your city • Rahu kaal, yamaganda and gulika kaal • Abhijit muhurat on the days it occurs THE MONTH AT A GLANCE A month grid that marks festivals, vrat and Ekadashi days, Purnima and Amavasya, and names the lunar months the calendar month spans. Tap any date for the full detail. FESTIVALS FOR WHERE YOU LIVE Festival dates are resolved against the tithi prevailing at your own local sunrise. That is why an Ekadashi in California can legitimately fall a day apart from an Ekadashi in Chennai — and why this app shows you your date rather than India's. Navratri, Diwali, Karwa Chauth, Makar Sankranti, Maha Shivratri, Janmashtami, Holi, Ekadashi, Purnima and Amavasya are all marked for your own city. WORKS OFFLINE Every calculation runs on your device. Once the app is installed you never need a connection. IN YOUR LANGUAGE English, हिन्दी, தமிழ், తెలుగు and ગુજરાતી, each script set in a typeface chosen for it. PREMIUM • No ads • Reminders for the festivals and vrats you choose • Aarti audio • A second saved city, so your parents' timings sit beside your own Premium is an auto-renewing subscription. The price is shown in the app before you buy, and you can cancel any time in your Apple account settings. BUILT TO BE CHECKED Sidereal positions use the Lahiri ayanamsha. Rise and set times allow for refraction. Time zones come from the IANA database, so daylight saving is handled properly. The app covers 1950 to 2050. And where it cannot compute a value with confidence, it says so rather than showing a number that might be wrong. PRIVACY Your location is used on your device to work out your timings. You can also simply search for a city instead of granting location access.
