Panorama Review – Version 4.5

With the release of version 4.5, Panorama has made meaningful progress in harvest tracking. Under Coverage, the software now properly displays totals of all machines combined, which is a big improvement. This update helps provide a more accurate picture of overall progress when multiple machines are working in the same field.

That said, a few key areas still need attention:
1. Harvest Tab Aggregation
While Coverage totals are now correct, the Harvest tab still does not aggregate machine data correctly. When multiple machine passes are selected, the metrics (area covered, yield, moisture, and others) should reflect combined totals and averages. For example, area covered should be the sum of all machines, while yield and moisture should reflect averages across machines. Currently, the Harvest tab only reflects totals from one primary machine, ignoring that multiple machines are selected. These combined metrics need to function the same way they do under Coverage.
2. Hybrid Totals vs. Field Totals
The homepage includes a helpful Hybrid Totals card, but there should also be a Field Totals card option. Most growers track performance metrics on a per-field basis, not strictly per hybrid. A “Field-First” card would display each field name as the card title (sortable alphabetically by filter/sort), with hybrid, acres planted/harvested, moisture, yield, and related stats shown underneath. The data already exists in Panorama but is locked in a hybrid-first view. Presenting it in a field-first view would better match how operations are managed.
3. Landing Page Simplification
The home page still needs streamlining to make quick glances more useful. Under Recent Activity, if multiple machines are in the same field, their activity should be combined into one entry instead of listed separately. Additionally, whether a machine is planting or harvesting, it would be valuable to see simple metrics at a glance, such as current field, acres remaining, average yield, and average moisture. This would give operators and managers a fast, accurate snapshot for planning logistics like truck scheduling, bin capacity, and crew timing.

Closing Thought
Version 4.5 demonstrates clear progress with Coverage aggregation, but extending these fixes into the Harvest tab, adding a field-first card view, and simplifying the landing page would unlock even greater usability. Precision has the data right; now the presentation just needs refinement to match real-world farm workflows. It’s good to see Precision listening to their customers, as each update shows clear improvement.

Lacking key metrics

Although Panorama is a work in progress, several key features are still falling short of expectations in harvest tracking.

1. Pass Merging Still Non-Functional
When multiple harvest machines are selected that are running Passmaster, the system only displays harvested acres, yield, moisture, and other performance metrics for a single machine. These values are not currently merged across machines. If the “multiple pass” checkbox is selected, all corresponding data points (acres, yield, moisture, etc.) should be aggregated and displayed as field totals. Without this, the feature loses much of its intended efficiency.

2. Acres Remaining Display
Under the Harvest tab, there should be a field-level “acres remaining” counter. This value should automatically subtract from the total planted acres in the field as harvest progresses. Having this metric would allow operators and managers to better plan logistics (truck scheduling, bin capacity, crew timing) in real time.

3. Landing Page Simplification
The home page could be streamlined to make quick glances more useful. For example, under Recent Activity, if multiple machines are in the same field, their activity should be combined into one entry instead of listed separately. Additionally, whether a machine is planting or harvesting, it would be helpful to see simple metrics such as: current field, acres left, average yield, and average moisture. Presenting these metrics clearly would make it much easier to monitor progress and machine performance at a glance.

Precision has gotten the hard part correct with accurate data collection. However, the software implementation and usability could be improved fairly easily, which would make the platform far more powerful for growers.

Can’t seem to render maps

Since update to app at beginning of planting I can’t seem to get any maps and their layers to render on iPad app. I also tried both safari and Firefox browsers on iPad and they do not work neither to render map background images nor the panorama layers. My android devices work like they should. I’ve tried app on another iPad and the result is the same ,however both iPads are running ipadOS version 17.7.8. Coworkers iPhone has iOS 18 and the app works fine for him
