One of the best games I’ve ever played.
I experienced this game without any guides or the internet and would recommend anyone else to do the same.
I personally got this game on offer after seeing the sequel’s trailer. Whilst I played it simply out of interest for the art style I got a lot more out of it than just that.
This game wants you to piece together information you’ve found over time whilst experiencing the game’s events to figure out the story. When you feel like you have some ideas however these are often subverted, especially the obvious ones. However it will make sense the further you get into the game.
This causes some of the puzzles (later ones especially) to be quite abstract as some rely on your understanding of the events of the game and others how well you have picked up on small details such as in the environment, with other characters, or even in the UI and menus. This could be a negative for some as you will need to think hard for some of them but it was great for me personally.
There is some contrast between the first and second halves of the game:
The first intends to build the atmosphere and cleverly creates a fun sense of dread with the 360° camera view (which is a central feature of this game). You could be jumpscared by environment elements or simply by turning the camera. This, combined with the lack of knowledge of the world and some inexplicable events, creates a large fear of the unknown.
The second half is less focused on directly scaring you and more on telling the story. This can make it much more loaded on text and reading since there is much more time spent interacting with the other characters and going through your files (a collection of information you have discovered). For me this wasn’t a bad thing but for others it could be. The fear is instead in finding out the truth behind the events (and the ambiguity in others) however it’s very satisfying when there’s a rush of everything fitting together towards the end. This is why I believe this game is best experienced without any guides since you won’t get this satisfaction otherwise.
Only towards the end does each segment get quite long so you can get away with playing this for a short amount of time in a day for most of it (not that you’d want to after playing). You wouldn’t want to leave it so long however that you start forgetting information from the game, I personally played it over a month and a half so this was not the case for me.
The translation is also very good, I only caught a couple of small typos so this won’t impact your gameplay experience.
I have never written a review before but this game needs more attention, especially due to its lack of marketing and the number of Square Enix releases around that time.

Great game, bad ending
Amazing game, had me playing nonstop. Got it on sale for 5 bucks, totally worth.
WARNING: the ending - the ACTUAL ending - is honestly quite unsatisfactory.
But the gameplay and story - the journey - was much more worth than the destination. Cool plot twists as well.

Delightful
I got this to play through October in the middle of the night and it set the mood perfectly. I was apprehensive at the start of the game and thought it might be a bit cheesy but the story picks up quickly and hits hard. I’ve finished the entire game and the story still lingers on my mind. If you like story based games I would highly recommend.

Great Story and Music
Remember how superstitions were said to largely be a thing of the past due to limited communication technology? Remember the Oulja board and talk of possession? This game touches on mass hysteria and the psyche of the characters involved in the Seven Mysteries of Hojo. There’s a whole lot of reading, but it’s totally worth it. The twists and betrayals were pretty surprising, but it all gets tied together and the ending makes complete sense. I just wish there were more routes where you could use the curses more.

Good story and interactive experience
This game really optimised for the iOS devices. Use touch and vibrations, and the story is engaging as well. Please keep coming! Need more FILE23!
Good game
hope could add support for game center achievements and iCloud saves
Fans of Japanese Horror Rejoice!
Im particularly “new” to this “visual novel horror” type of video game, and wasn’t sure it would be for me.
However, Paranormasight has provided me with hours of intrigue and delight. I’m happy to have experienced it.
It is not a particularly gory game, but the story does revolve around Japanese curses and death.
There are multiple episodic character stories to follow, so don’t be dismayed after completing the first story too soon.
The visuals are colourful. The sound is intent on creating a horror atmosphere and succeeds at this.
I recommend playing with a pair of headphones (AirPod Pros work fantastic!) for a more rewarding atmospheric horror vibe.

Great game
This is a great visual novel game, with nice plot and characters. The puzzles are not so difficult if you pay attention to some details. In conclusion, it is a game that can be recommended to other players who love visual novels.
This game is fine
I bought this after reading all the 5-star rave reviews.
I tend to like most Square Enix games, so it seemed like a guaranteed hit waiting for me to enjoy.
It’s fine, but not excellent.
It’s a decent story. Not worth the price though.
The gameplay isn’t engaging and the creativity that’s there doesn’t make up for the dullness of most of the time spent on the game itself.

Must have
An amazing adventure visual novel with deep characters and an original plot. Runs great on ios, with easy to manage touchscreen interfaces. The story is about 10 hours long, and manages to keep you coming back. Soundtrack is catchy too.
One of my best purchases here, must have.

This game is incredible
You have to play to understand
Loved it!
This game was so fun! The art was beautiful, the story was super interesting and twisted, and the whole thing was just really entertaining. I wish there were more games like this.
Wow!
This game is amazing. Love the characters, the story, the soundtracks. Everything in this game is great.
Great spooky visual novel
Perfect mysterious spooky story game to play over the Halloween weekend. I enjoyed it a lot, a bit like the zero escape series without the escape room element. The visual style and presentation is impeccable.
Astonishing
The game itself runs very smooth, but it may vary depending on how old your device is (mine is recent). Story is very well played out, true horror game vibes. Never bought a mobile game before but this changed that! Definitely reccomend to those into Serial Experiment's Lain, kinda gives off that aesthetic.

Amazing Game!
I honestly did not expect much from this game but it was absolutely fantastic. After beating it, I'm looking for other games to play that are like it but there is nothing else that stands up to it. Very very solid story and gameplay!
Amazing visual novel - Death Note meets Zero Escape
If you enjoy visual novels, specifically games such as the Zero Escape series, Phoenix Wright, or Dagonronpa, you’ll most likely love this game
To me it feels like a mix of Death Note, Zero Escape, and Fatal Frame, mixed into a Visual Novel style. The art style is beautiful, music fits the scene’s mood perfectly, and the story and mystery kept me enticed all the way through. The game also likes to change and pan the camera angle, or zoom in/out on different characters to make the image less static and more interesting to look at.
This is a hidden gem for sure, and one of my favorite visual novel style games period. 100% worth buying.

I wish more people knew of this game.
Majority of Square Enix games are bangers and half of them aren’t advertised and mainly people who are closely following SE content will find out or a friend telling them. This hidden gem of a game is a great puzzle game. More fun to have people to voice act with you for the dialogue which makes this a good game to stream, the puzzles are very creative as you can tell from the prologue itself (Shogo as the main character until you unlock the path screen)

This game is underrated
I rarely buy games, but this one is worth the money. The plot are good, the art are amazing, had me cry over some chapter. Overall, I hope this game would be more popular cause it deserves the recognition.
