I’ve been on this game since it was only a year or so old. It’s changed a lot over the years! Some bullying still happens and I DEFINITELY do not feel it’s a game that is safe for anyone under 17. And I would even be leery of letting a 17 year old play it. It’s been getting worse with their new updates in my opinion because they are trying to censor a lot of what makes this game the game it is and has always been. Yes, you run the risk of being bullied. Obviously like with anything when it comes to the internet, you want to be careful with who knows how much. But between the newer rules that are worse than when they first started the game, what feels like up cycled hunts/avatars, ata/mods lying to the players when called out on things, and the CRAZY amount of cash grabs it’s not worth playing anymore.

I have been playing this game since it basically launched. For the age to get dropped down to 13 is absolutely ridiculous. Please do not let your children socialize on here. And if a developer responds to this review with “we age check through google/apple” that is NOT enough. Any child can make a fake email! This app heavily uses communication. Us adults SHOULD not be socializing with minors. Between the basically naked avatars we have and adults who have been on this game forever welcoming children DOES NOT MAKE SENSE AT ALL!!! This is supposed to be a game based around college right!? WHAT 13 YEAR OLD IS GOING TO COLLEGE AND LIVING IN A DORM!? MAKE THIS MAKE SENSE! You are welcoming children to get groomed and sought after. Don’t you even dare respond with “age verification and we limited access so the children don’t have access to what the adults have” ITS NOT ENOUGH AND YOU KNOW IT! Unsafe & Harassment Central
I wanna start this off by saying I’ve played this game for 3 years. I’ve left a review before this and it wasn’t pleasant either. But the game is going more downhill as it ages. DO NOT LET YOUR KIDS PLAY THIS. I don’t know what they were thinking allowing CHILDREN to download this. It is unsafe and dangerous!! Children used to be banned upon discovery, but now they permit this, and children will of course lie about their age too and be given access to sexual themes and even creepier people. All this so they can get an App spotlight on the App Store. 😑 I already stopped spending money here but this sealed the deal for me. Devs priority is money and always has been. Adults themselves get away with harassing others and racist/sexist/etc comments here because they “don’t moderate dms”. Even more of a reason to keep children away!!!

NOT for kids under 18.
Regardless of what developers say, this game is NOT fit for teens. The advertising vs reality is very different. There’s a lot to be address before allowing minors on this game!
Disappointed: False Age Rating
I have played this game for 7 years and never would I have thought it would have gotten to this point. A Thinking Ape developers added on a safe wall within their game so they could successfully secure a lower age rating.
The safe wall they implemented was censorship of 18+ players, and a faulty age verification mechanism that asks you what age you are and you can very easily lie on. If you do state your age is under 18, you lack any ability to play the game whatsoever (chatting, adding, gifting, reading club walls, public chats, and other game mechanics essential in the game.) but still get to make in game purchases, so this age rating change is useless when the game is incapacitated for these users.
I also noticed with this new age rating that developers state that Mature themes and Suggestive/Sexual Content is infrequent, that is NOT the case. Just this past couple of months they have released multiple suggestive avatars whether it be shard avatars or hunt avatars (Avatars: Styled people you can wear within the game that reflect on your accounts stats). Two of the Card shard avi’s I’ll note are a man in a bath tub nude but having bubbles covering private areas, same with the woman avatar. Two of the XC avis you can obtain from getting silver XC crowns are faced backwards with a towel covering their butts but opening the towels this is also being suggestive that they are nude. They have a box avi you can still purchase if someone has the tradeable box where the avi is a pole dance. There are many more but if i named them all we’d be here all day.
Your ToS also states this game is 18+, but your age rating states otherwise. I believe this game is being misrepresented as they just recently implemented this “safe wall”, and are trying to keep their target audience broader for profit. Many of their players have tried communicating with them about this change how it is problematic. The developers have gone ghost and are hiding behind their in-game moderators which are volunteers.
If your child finds this game DO NOT let them use it.

Ata supports grooming and pedos beware
This game is not for children this game has never been for children. There are predators on this game that ata doesn't do anything against and now they are hopping to get children onto the game to spend their parents money. They lied to the community saying they weren't trynna have the age lowered. This game is a cest pool of degenerates and toxicity. If you let your kids play it they will end up with more trauma then you could ever give as a parent. If the pedos don't get them then the farm families will. The fact that this app is now catering to minors when they know what people do and post on this game is disgusting. ATA does nothing to protect its players so why would they do anything to protect minors? DO NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN PLAY THIS GAME IF YOU CARE ABOUT THEIR MENTAL HEALTH.

The only reason they changed their age for app is because the want to be app of the day. They DO NOT listen to the players at all—all of which are 20-40 year olds. This game was never for kids and has no safe guards, despite why they may lie about. It’s not a safe environment for kids and never has been. It’s an adult game and it’s trying to push out players that have been giving them money for 10+ from in app purchases. Avis are butt naked, they censor everything you say or silence you, and support does nothing when someone is being bullied. Opening a ticket does nothing and PvP is a vastly unfair system. Devs are trash and so fake.

Disappointed
I’ve played this game for years, and it saddens me to see it become unsafe. The mature themes, sexualised avatars, and adult language were never meant for children. The devs once promised it wouldn’t be accessible to minors, yet it’s now listed as 12+. Vulnerable kids deserve better protection. Many of us have stopped spending or playing in protest. If you care about child safety, please share this concern.

It’s insane that the game goes from a mature rating 17+ to 13+. This game is absolutely not for minors. They “do their best” with moderators in game to silence any mature conversation, but will release risqué character designs and say it’s okay because it’s “cosplay.”

The game has an extremely long history of groomers like many games with chat rooms but without the intent of being appealing to younger ages. Recently this has changed to try expanding reach and monetization. Leaving kids exposed to sexual content, and grown adults after promising to not go 13+. Vile grooming devs.

I have played this game and I was against 17 yr olds playing it and now yall lowered the age to 13. With the content and the pedos that play this is not a place for anyone under 18. Dangers of this game
I’ve been playing this game for 7+ years and all my time on this game there have been a whole bunch of pedofiles not just a few no this whole game is built for pedos. Instead of getting rid of them this game is condoning sexual acts from grown men to kids and when I say kids I mean literal kids. What does ata do to help? Make an “age requirement” where all you need to do is scroll through numbers and pick an age (half assed). No other verification no other safety measures. ATA still condones sexual material on this game and won’t look at private messages if a minor is getting sexually exploited on PIMD. This is not a safe game for kids.
