Major feature: Nearby Friends (offline, iOS-only) A completely new way to find friends with zero internet, built on Bluetooth: - Devices discover each other and share real GPS coordinates directly over BLE — no Wi-Fi or cellular needed at all. - Locations relay through a small mesh — if you're not directly in range of a friend but a mutual connection is, you still see them and their live distance (marked "via a mutual connection"). - Works with the app backgrounded — a same-day rewrite made discovery survive iOS hiding device identity in the background, which is the main way people would actually use this in practice (phone in pocket). - A live map showing your own position and every discovered friend's, instead of just numeric distances. - Entry points: Settings → "Nearby Friends (Test)", and a new button directly on the Event Map. Offline map improvements - Map tiles now cache to disk (30 days) across Event Map, Friends Map, and Nearby Friends — previously-viewed areas stay visible with no internet instead of going blank. - Opening an event's details proactively pre-fetches the map tiles around that venue while you're still online. Reliability fixes - Fixed the global "Lost Connection" screen blocking Nearby Friends — added a direct escape hatch to reach it even from a fully offline cold launch. - Smoother, more frequent GPS updates on Nearby Friends' map (switched from a fixed 5s poll to a continuous location stream, matching how Event Map/Friends Map already worked).
