About
I built Path Meter to remember where I went, how long I stayed, and how I spent the time in between.
The journey to work. A bike ride after getting off the train. An afternoon out, or a trip somewhere new. These are the paths that make up a life. Path Meter gives you a way to record them on the map and look back at the time behind each journey.
Map your days
Start recording when you head out, lock your phone, and go. Save the route when you finish. Return to familiar journeys or keep a record of the days you went beyond your usual routine. Give familiar places your own names.
Understand your time
See distance, duration and speed along the recorded route. Review individual sections with their time and average speed. The movement and stops summary separates moving time, likely stops and periods where the available data is insufficient. It helps you see how a journey unfolded and get a better sense of the time to allow next time.
A commute can include a train, a bicycle and a pause along the way. Explore the recorded sections to understand the changes in pace and time. Transport modes are not automatically identified. Stop detection is an estimate; indoor or underground GPS gaps can limit what is recorded.
Keep a personal record
Browse trips by date, city or province, with distances and durations for each group. Open a trip on the map, follow its timeline, and revisit where you went. Notice the familiar paths. Leave room for somewhere new.
Built for everyday use
• Lock screen Live Activity and Dynamic Island support during recording
• Home screen widget to start recording and open your trips
• Full-screen maps, route sections and a replay timeline
• Speed and battery map layers, with network information recorded during trips
• Custom place names, stored separately from the original track
Your record stays yours
All trip records stay on your device. There is no account, cloud sync or third-party analytics. Location access is used when you request map positioning or start a trip. Continuous tracking runs only during an active trip and stops when you end it.
Measurements depend on the location samples your device provides. GPS gaps are shown as gaps, and missing routes cannot be reconstructed later. Continued background GPS use can reduce battery life.
Go out. Feel the world. Keep a trace of your days.
