Makes you pay and is ridiculously expensive

When I downloaded Pawchi I genuinely thought I’d found something better than Finch, which is a pretty hard bar to beat. I was really excited, the concept is really cool but to my dismay there is no free version, the app and advertisements are misleading because it makes it seem free. Nope, you have to pay. I could see paying $9.99 a month, maybe. But $9.99 a week is ridiculous. Very disappointed because the app looked awesome.

Response from developer

We heard you! When Pawchi first launched, anyone could use the app for free, but as more people joined, the AI and server costs of creating each companion grew much faster than I could sustainably support as a solo developer. I introduced a subscription to keep Pawchi running, but many people wanted the chance to try the app first. Based on that feedback, I’ve now added a free trial so everyone can experience Pawchi before deciding whether to subscribe. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! ❤️

Requires payment

Payment is required for this app, do not bother with downloading if you do not wish to pay.

Too Pricey for the content

I recommend a different self-care app that doesn’t try to immediately dig in your funds.

Deceptive Ads make you think this app is free

The ad I got on 7/19/26 states the app was free to use however after creating my account the only option available is to pay for a subscription. There is no free trial or free to use option.

literally unusable on the free version.

i signed up and did all the beginning steps of the app in order to get the self-care pet ready, only to be forced into a subscription screen, despite them saying that's the "VIP" or "exclusive" bundle or whatever, implying there's a free version. and there IS. they just made it unusable. the only way i got out of that paying screen is by hitting "restore purchases" and then i was able to go about the app. when i closed out of it and came back hours later, it didn't let me back in. it said i had to pay again. then i click the x button to try and keep using the free version and it logs me out. waste of time if you don't have the money for a self-care app that wants to charge you $40 a year.

Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. ❤️ I’m sorry the experience was frustrating. Pawchi requires a subscription because every companion is AI-powered, and the ongoing costs of creating and running them are significant. As a solo indie developer, I made the decision to make Pawchi subscription-supported so I can continue improving and maintaining the app. I completely understand that the current flow makes it seem like there’s a usable free version, and that’s something I’m actively working to improve. I’ll be making the pricing and subscription requirement much clearer before sign-up so expectations are set from the beginning.

Can’t use free or even trial

The app makes you think payment is optional because it gives you a chance to buy “Pawchi Plus,” but that’s the ONLY way to use the app. There is no regular Pawchi, only Pawchi Plus, which is extremely deceptive. you don’t get a trial period either.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback. ❤️ You’re right that the current wording isn’t clear enough, and I’m working on improving that. Pawchi is subscription-supported because every AI companion has real ongoing costs to create and maintain, and as a small business that’s the only way I can continue building and supporting the app. I'll investigate in a trial period. ☺️

Makes me pay.

In one of the videos it says free but after I make an account the only buttons is an X and I lose my account or the pay button.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback. ❤️ When Pawchi first launched, anyone could use the app for free, but as more people started signing up, the costs of running the app and creating each companion grew much faster than I could sustainably support. As a solo developer, I had to make the difficult decision to move to a subscription model so I can continue improving and supporting Pawchi. I’m sorry this wasn’t communicated clearly, and I’m working on making the pricing more transparent before sign-up. Thanks for giving Pawchi a try!

The app is great!

It really helps me get things done and I would love to see a store in the game so I can give my cat treats and play with him with toys.
