Update sucks

The new update is very hard to comprehend and I feel is not user friendly. I have been using this app for close to 10 years and this latest update is horrible.

Does not work

Avoid this software. It does not work as advertised.

Quick and Easy

You literally just click and drag a file to lock and it protects it while preserving clickable links.

PDF Protector

Simple and does the job with a minimum of complexity. And it's reliable

I use this all the time in Bible PDF sales

It helps keep my work protected by users name and is easy for them to remember. I had bought Adobe Acrobat Pro 32 bit for a fortune. It was tough to navigate and lock PDF's. This app is smooth and quick and does the job and they update the app for free!

Not what it's supposed to be

I wanted to make a pdf that is non-editable (i.e., the content cannot be changed). I can set the password all right, and it does prevent printing, but in my PdfExpert editor I could still modfify the text without a password. So, doesn't do what it was supposed to.

#1

This should be #1 when you search for "password pdf" like I did. Exadctly what I needed for simply protecting a PDF.

One PDF at a time

Not able to drop more than 1 file.

It takes long enough to be the same as using preview app

Response from developer

Hi there, Thanks for the feedback. You should be able to drop more than one file. You can even drop an entire folder. Could you please send a mail to support@witt-software.com and explain what you are doing so I can better understand what is going wrong and fix the issue with an update. Thanks for your help Daniel

Not Working

I purchased this app to restrict copying of information in PDF files. It worked the first few times I used it. Now it does nothing to restrict copying. It tells me that my documents have been locked successfully but when I check the files, or have friends check the files, the informaiton is not being restricted. I was hopeful that things would start working after the recent update. No such luck. Sorry to say it's not working for me, at least under Mojave 10.14.6

Works with Adobe

Just purchased. Installed Adobe Acrobat Reader to test. Works as advertised (software was updated since previous review).
Simple d’utilisation. Protection reconnue par Acrobat Reader, que j’ai installé pour en faire l’essai. (Le logiciel a été mis è jour depuis l’évaluation précédente).

It works!

Needed an app to password protect documents. It works great!

Simple and effective

This is such a pleasure to use. I just drag my pdf onto the icon in the dock and it immediately asks for what password I want to lock the file with. Can't get more efficient or more of a pleasure to use.

Doesn’t work with Adobe

The lock worked well with Preview but it was inexistent when the file was opened with Adobe Reader.

It just works. Very cheap and effective.

Very quick in place removal of password protection without the need to buy expensive Adobe tools.

Easy to unlock PDF

I just dropped the PDF doc with password protection, clicked Unlock, and the password protection was gone. So easy.

Couldn't be easier

Drag your PDF in, select a few options and LOCK. You're done.

Works Perfectly for this Function

I need to lock PDF documents when I am working at home on my MacBook Air without access to our expensive software at work, so that the documents can only be viewed and printed unless I give the recipient the password to copy and edit material from the PDF. Note that Preview does not provide this function as it only provides full encryption. This simple, inexpensive app works perfectly for this purpose and is super easy and intuitive.

I can lock a document with having to pay for Adobe PDF Designer

Works great, as advertised, well worth the $2. My only suggestion would be to make it so it could handle multiple documents instead of only one at a time.

does what it says

This application does exactly what the seller claims. My pdf document (including clipart, pictures, fonts) now cannot be copied, edited or even PRINTED (awesome) without the password. When I try any of those functions, a little screen pops up asking for the password. The application installed right on my tool bar and was ready to use immediately. The screen shots pretty much show it all. It's ipad simple. I have OS 10.6. This application works perfectly.

I read a review indicating that the application doesn't unlock pdf files. Perhaps the features were written unclearly on earlier versions. This version, 1.0.2, states you can unlock pdf that you lock. There is nothing saying you can break into other pdf docs that you did not lock and/or to which you do not have the password.

Now, of course high level stealers will always find a way to hack anything, including locked pdfs (there's always an app for that). But if you want to protect your or someone elses original work from low level stealers then this app will do the trick.

Not as described

The product does not perform as described. In the description, at the time that I purchased the app, it said that in addition to locking pdf files, it could also unlock them. The app does not unlock documents that are already locked. The app DOES do the rest of what it says, which is the reason for the extra star. It does lock them well. But I purchased the app specifically for the purpose of unlocking a locked PDF document, and no luck. Does not work.
