Easy to use
Getting addicted to immediacy of today’s news and not having to hike to the box to pick it up.
Overall Pretty Good
The PDN app is a basic, no frills reader that allows me to follow local news as easily as I can news from major outlets online. One complaint - and I can’t claim any documented proof of this - is that it seems that there are stories that show up in their hard copy edition before making it to the digital edition.
Another issue is that it also seems that PDN puts some stories up on Facebook before (or without?) making them available in the app. The problem there is that my PDN login info doesn’t save via that portal, so I eventually hit the ‘free story limit’, and have to go through a series of steps to login to my PDN account.
Ultimately, it’s better than generating a lot of solid, albeit recyclable, waste, but it’s not as good as it could be.
UPDATE: Two years on the same issues persist except now I also receive an email with stories that have not yet appeared in the app.

Easy to navigate
I’m enjoying the PDN on my iPad. This is much easier to navigate than I expected based on my experience with a previous app. I receive an electronic paper when none is printed on holidays. The PDN offers a reprise of national news on its second front page, but perhaps less Washington state news.
Great App
This app gives you several ways to read the digital newspaper and I really like it….. For a small town newspaper I am stunned how good the app is as well as the quality of the newspaper!!!!

Took a while to get used to. I don’t have a PC so I found it difficult to print the crosswords but Support walked me through it, and it works. Yay.

We are so fortunate to still have a local newspaper on the north Olympic Peninsula!
Why is everything in two columns?!
Seriously! Most articles are more than a page long so you are constantly scrolling up and down to read an article because everything is in two columns. It's as if the people who own an run the news service don’t use the app!

Love remote access to News-Press
We read the News-Press every day. We are good ne from Florida more than 6 months each year, so we use our app on the phone. We use the version where the layout is the same as a print newspaper. We turn pages or skip to the next section or take them n an article to enlarge. All features are easy to use and reliable.

Love reading the news
It takes three steps to actually access the front page and it could be so much smoother. When I open The NY Times, it takes me immediately to the front page.

Poor local news source
Navigation is terrible, cannot filter so you only see one town’s articles. Articles are not timely, no actual timestamps so you can’t tell when an
article was written or when an event was scheduled. There is no sports or events calendar. This new source doesn’t care about its community.

It is so important to know, to the best of our ability, the truth about news and local events. Unfortunately news reporting is largely influenced by the world view of the reporting organization. So I encourage you at PDN to continue to strive for the truth, for the truth from different perspective world views.

Overall crappy source for local news
Poorly organized, difficult to navigate, newspapers have been around for hundreds of years and this app cannot even get those basics right. There is no local calendar of events to follow, Marketplace is full of spammy ads, there is no community feel in this news app. The events that appear as articles HAVE NO DATES! Today for example, open the app and see caroling today as the headline of an article. There is no date! It was yesterday! This is the most unhelpful local news source!
