About

PennyBook is a simple expense tracker that stays on your iPhone or iPad. Tap +, pick a category, done. ASK ABOUT YOUR MONEY New in 1.1: Ask PennyBook. Ask in plain words, by typing or by voice: "How much did I spend on food last month?", "and transport?", "Why was September so high?", "Did I save money this year?" Answers come with a chart, a split by category and the entries behind them, and it remembers the conversation, so follow-ups just work. It runs on Apple Intelligence on your device. Every figure is worked out by PennyBook from your own entries, the same way Insights does; the model only writes the words. Nothing is sent anywhere, and the chat is forgotten when you close it. Requires a device with Apple Intelligence turned on; everything else in PennyBook works without it. LOG IT FAST Choose the wallet, type the amount, tap a category, save. Add a few words and the category picks itself, learning from what you filed before. Type "coffee 4" and the amount fills in too, or say it: dictation runs on your device. WALLETS WITH REAL BALANCES Cash, bank accounts, credit cards, e-wallets. Enter what is in each today and every entry moves it from there. A card shows what you owe. If the bank disagrees, adjust the balance with a note: one visible entry, never a quiet rewrite. SPENDING, INCOME AND TRANSFERS Spending in coral and income in green, in every list. A transfer moves money between your wallets and never counts as spending, so an ATM withdrawal or a card bill doesn't distort the month. SEE WHERE THE MONEY WENT Insights for a week, a month, three months, a year or any dates, for all wallets or one. Overview shows what you spent, earned and kept, day by day. Categories shows what each one cost and how it moved. Habits shows your costliest weekdays, a spending calendar and the places you pay most. FIND ANYTHING Search the whole book with a few words or an amount. Narrow it by kind, wallet, category, an amount range or dates, and see how many entries match and what they add up to. BRING YOUR HISTORY Choose the export from your old tracker, or paste a table. The file is read on your device, wallets come across, categories are matched, duplicates are skipped, and you see what will happen before anything is written. One tap undoes an import. EVERYWHERE YOU ARE Widgets on the Home Screen and Lock Screen, Siri ("Log an expense in PennyBook"), iPad in either orientation, and optional iCloud sync to your other iPhones and iPads through your own private iCloud. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account, no bank login, no ads, no analytics. PennyBook has no networking code of its own; the only thing that ever leaves your device is iCloud sync, off until you turn it on, into your own iCloud where we cannot see it. Lock the book with Face ID. Export everything as a spreadsheet whenever you like. PAY ONCE Your first 100 entries are free. PennyBook Pro unlocks unlimited entries with a single purchase, no subscription. Import, export, search, Ask PennyBook and everything else are free.

What's New in PennyBook

1.1.0

October 1, 2026

Ask PennyBook: ask about your money in plain words, by typing or by voice. "How much on food last month?", "and transport?", "Why was September so high?" Answers come with charts and the entries behind them, and it remembers the conversation. It runs on Apple Intelligence on your device; every figure is worked out from your own entries and nothing is sent anywhere. New Insights: any span from a week to a year or your own dates, for all wallets or one, with Overview, Categories and Habits (costliest weekdays, a spending calendar, the places you pay most). A simpler add screen: wallet, amount, category and a note with suggestions and dictation. A cleaner look everywhere: a new balance card, one green for money in and one coral for money out, and a redesigned Settings. Many more category icons with search, and five new colours. PennyBook opens on the wallet you looked at last. Fixes for PennyBook on Mac.
