Perfect Pitch User Reviews

A good start

The app is pretty, but relatively simple. All you can do is assign colors to the notes and listen to preset simple scales or melodies that highlight each note and color together as each note plays. Over time, you would probably start to make color associations with the notes and start to "see" the pitches you are hearing like looking at a painting with your ears. But it would be kinda difficult to remember to do it regularly as the experience doesn't really leave you dying to come back to the app tomorrow. It doesn't have any sort of instruction or gamification with things like varying difficulty levels you can work your way through and track your progress and accuracy. These would be nice additions to see, maybe starting with a few notes and the middle of the keyboard, then progressing to more tones and the higher and lower registers. It could also add an option to change the instrument, starting with simple pure sine waves and showing a progression from the simpler timbres like flute to ones with lots of overtones like French horn or a human voice. It could also have an option for pitch recall at the most advanced level where the device can listen to you hum or sing a note and tell you how far off you were from center. If users submit their game play data, the developer could track whether or not people were actually getting better at pitch recognition, and deliver this data to new users so they know what to expect and how much time they would have to dedicate to learning the skill.

excellent

great software

👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

App is good, could you possibly add a feature where the note stays playing once you stop holding it?

Can help with easier tuning or vocal matching or whatever others might want to use it for

App is good, could you possibly add a feature where you can hover over the keys for sound, instead of having to hold down the key to play the sound..?

Great idea for learning

What a cool idea! I’m excited to start learning. I’d love to have more song choices, or to be able to punch in my own. Another fun feature would be a tuner that could use the mic and show the pitch and color being heard.

Halfway good idea

The idea is “good” but all it does is play a melody and flash a color. You can tap the colors and it gives you a note name but this is all.

Just starting out.

Looks promising. But does it work with AirPods? I’ve got mine in and paired but the sound is still coming out of the speaker.

Huh

Seriously ~ what is the point of this ‘app’?

Developer Reponse

I’m sooo elated that you are elated elating others and bringing meaning to life. Keep up the great elating. I just love this ….. Wait, what were we talking about again… oh right right… so elating is good stuff man.

Very disappointing

Perhaps I set my sights too high for this app. I was expecting some sort of testing mechanism since the title says “perfect pitch“.
There’s nothing in this app that gives you any feedback for you to discern or discriminate pitch accuracy.
Just a circle of fifths That light up in various colors… Really?
Even the tone quality of the notes is irritating. Who chose these cells?
Where can I get my time back?

Awesome app

I’ve been looking for a synesthesic music training app like this for a long time. It’s nearly perfect, although here is some constructive feedback for the developers:
-The haptic feedback should be a bit more sensitive. I have to press hard to trigger the notes.
-It would be nice if the octave automatically raised when playing along with a song.
-A “Simon” game mode would be helpful.
-It would be nice to have more color shades, especially dark tones. I was looking for a deep, dark blue, and the closest color option was a kind of washed out blueish grey color.

Awesome app overall. Thank you for making this.

How do I use this?

There are no instructions, just “Practice” which plays songs and the notes turn the screen different colors, in get that, but how are you supposed to go about learning?

Huh?

I don’t get it. Why are people saying this is good? It’s just little songs with notes and colors. How long would you have to watch this to get any association between the notes and colors and melodies? I’m guessing it would be way longer than most people would want to listen to these same songs. It doesn’t even have an opportunity for you to see if you’re gaining any pitch recognition. There’s no exercises, no feedback. Just little songs with a strange sounding synthesizer that isn’t even musically pleasing. They’re definitely songs that would keep playing in your mind - ear worms - but you’d have to listen and watch for quite some time to make the pitch association. I mean, quite some time! I have serious doubts this would work. I don’t see any of the reviewers saying, “Yes! Now, I have perfect pitch!” I suspect there’s a reason.

A nice, well-made app

UnfoldIt LLC is great

Great color design and sound integration with proper iOS design standards and up-to-date development practices. This is some clean code!

Exactly What I Needed

I recently started teaching myself how to sing and wanted to expand my musical ability... this is app is perfect! I feel like any musician, no matter your level of expertise, would benefit from this app. The design is not only visually appeasing and stimulating, but also its simplicity helps you practice pitch in the easiest way I’ve ever been taught/ told/ or tried. Honestly has me thinking- why hasn’t anyone created this yet?! Well now it’s here and I couldn’t be happier to practice music!
