while it may seem like a rip-off of subway surfers and other similar games, which it somewhat is, it adds in (what are to my knowledge) new fun and interesting mechanics which make the game extremely enjoyable, for example: there is a mechanic where you can unlock different levels and characters/skins by buying all the buildings on a map using coins you collect in-game and whenever you buy a stage of a building, it levels you up and increases the amount you score gets increased each time, this gives the player an incentive to continue playing and to grab all the coins that they can. each level is completely different, with its own style, mechanics, and events. the ads are unobtrusive and short enough to not be annoying. there are optional micro-transactions but the game does not force them on you whatsoever and you it’s easy to work towards the things offered in the micro-transactions while playing. the game’s graphics and style look nice and nothing looks out of place with everything else, MOST (i say most because the death animations look quite a bit wonky and rigid) animations are fluid and smooth and fit in with the style and overall the presentation is great. the mechanic of each skin/character having different upgradable times and max time upgrade amount for power-ups gives the player even more to complete if they finish everything else and is overall a interesting mechanic. i do not like the trampanzee things, they require you to jump at them from a specific spot which is not really marked and sometimes even when it seems like you touched it, you don’t grab on, and the game sometimes requires you to jump from multiple trampanzee’s in a row, specifically in the level called “the great wall”, which can be really annoying. there was a time where i clipped through the ground on the level called “relic world” although this only happened once and all i had to do was leave the run. on “relic world” there is also a glitch where sometimes when you switch to a lane where there is a staircase and you are switching right before you pass the staircase, your character will suddenly start moving to the lane you came from, usually resulting in damage or death. there are times where coins obscure obstacles but this is rare, and can be avoided if you look hard enough. i think nermal should be made slightly smaller as nermal is always depicted as smaller then Garfield and seeing them be the same size as him just looks weird to me. some of the scaling of objects is strange, garfield is as tall as a average human in comparison with the cars and the benches (and some other objects but i’m singling out the benches because they are the best example) at the sides of the level “marion town” are the taller then the cars and garfield, so either garfield and the benches are normal and the vehicles are small or garfield is human sized and the benches are huge. there is an error where when using the jetpack power-up and playing the animation where the character is coming back down as the power-up ends, as this happens the shadow of the character will appear over the flames of the jetpack. there was once an error i experienced in the “marion town” level where i tried to jump over a bus with the jump boost power-up but i got caught on the edge of it and garfield was stuck there while still playing the running animation and not losing the game either, it was fine as all i did was swipe to the right and i got unstuck but it still was a glitch. when garfield runs up one of the ramps in the level “marion town” with a magnet in his hand, the magnet will not follow his hand but instead float in a bright light around him, i assume this is a oversight. but even with all these tiny issues, the game is still extremely fun, i haven’t played mobile games in about 2 years, but i tried this one and it is now currently the only mobile game i play and it’s great.
