I love phantom of the opera (the 1910 book) and this is a pretty accurate retelling of it. I just wish it was easier to get the chapters without a paywall.

A Great Adaptation, But the Choices are an Illusion

The game is incredibly faithful to the original book, aside from a few minor character additions and some creative liberties taken to give everyone more compelling backstories.
My only real issue is with the beginning. The game baits you into playing by making you believe you can choose your own romantic ending. You are presented with a choice that feels important but doesn’t actually matter at the end of the day.
Overall, it’s a great game and a solid adaptation, despite having to sit through quite a few ads.
