About

When your breath speeds up and your mind races ahead, one tap on "I need calm" is all it takes. A soft shape breathes with you, slowly in and even more slowly out. Your hands get something gentle to do until you feel like yourself again. Phew is your quiet place for hectic moments, inner restlessness or when you are awake at night. No pressure, no subscriptions, no complicated menus. THE CALM MODE No choices, no hurdles. You open the app, tap once and breathe along. Afterwards you decide whether to sort stones, connect constellations, rake sand or simply keep breathing in silence. With the widget for your home and lock screen (iOS 17 and later), calm mode is just one tap away. MINDFUL BREATHING EXERCISES Seven short, guided exercises show you what a calm breath feels like: - Quiet nose breathing and small breaths: soft and slow - Long breath out: breathing out for longer than you breathe in - Belly breathing and even breathing: finding a steady rhythm - Settling down: a gentle exercise for the evening - Your own pace: set the rhythm that suits you There is also a breath pause, where you wait after breathing out for as long as feels comfortable, and a gentle heartbeat rhythm to breathe along with. The programme "7 days of calmer breathing" takes you through it, one step at a time. BREATHING GAMES Play with your breath and let go of tension: - Blow soap bubbles or send a dandelion flying - Keep a feather in the air or bring a boat safely to shore - Make a wind chime ring or a candle flame dance The microphone only listens for your breath out. Nothing is recorded or stored. Every game also works with your finger. FOR YOUR HANDS Gentle activities for busy thoughts: - Buddha sand garden: decorate your Zen garden with more than 40 hand-drawn pieces - Colouring: mandalas, spirit animals and places from all over the world - Starry sky: connect all 88 constellations and learn them along the way - Calm hands: untangle yarn, sort pebbles or stroke Mali, the Siamese cat who purrs softly as soon as you touch her SOUNDSCAPES FOR RELAXING AND SLEEPING Mix nature sounds like the ocean, rain, a forest stream and a crackling fire with singing bowls or a kalimba. - Built-in sleep timer - Keeps playing when your screen is locked YOUR GARDEN AND YOUR JOURNAL - Your garden grows with you: every calm minute helps a new plant bloom - Your journal: note how calm you feel and jot down a few words - Your entries belong to you: export them as a text file at any time - Apple Health, if you like: Phew can add your calm minutes as Mindful Minutes NIGHT RELIEF A very dark, quiet night mode without glaring light, for when you wake up in the middle of the night and want to find your way back to sleep. BUILT TO BE QUIET - No ads - No sign-up, no user account - No tracking - Your entries stay on your device - Five base sounds work offline, all others work offline after the first play - Available in English and German A GIFT FROM CAROLIN If you like, you can request a free guided Spirit Animal Journey by email. This is optional, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Phew is an app for relaxation and mindfulness practice. It is not a substitute for professional help.
