Broken

The widget just shows a white screen, never showing the photos in my album.

Please add MacOS support

This app is great on iPhone and iPad, but on my MacBook, the widget becomes solid gray when you open an app and the widgets become the background. I hope I make sense. It looks normal when the desktop itself is in focus, but as soon as you open an app in tbe foreground, the widget becomes completely grayed out. It’s probably because this app doesn’t have native MacOS support. Hopefully it is added eventually.

Response from developer

Thanks for the detailed report! macOS support is already implemented, so what you’re seeing is definitely not expected behavior. This looks like a macOS widget rendering issue when another app is in the foreground. I’m actively investigating it and a fix is planned for an upcoming update. Thanks again for pointing this out.

Good idea. Needs work

Works almost fine… unfortunately you are unable to select which album you want to display on the widget. It has the option to do so, but it will not function so you are stuck with whatever it randomly selects

Response from developer

Hi! 👋 Thanks for sharing your experience. The widget does allow you to select a specific album—if it isn’t working, it’s usually because the app doesn’t have permission to access your photo library. Please check your device’s Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos and make sure permission is enabled for the app. Once that’s set, the album selection should work as expected. If you still have any trouble, feel free to reach out through the in-app support and we’ll be glad to assist.

Doesn’t work

Added the widget, selected an album, all was good. With widget is just a grey square on my screen.

Response from developer

Hi there! 👋 Thanks a lot for your feedback and for trying out the widget. The grey square issue you mentioned has already been fixed in the latest version of the app 🎉. Please update to the newest release, and it should work as expected. If you still notice any problems, feel free to reach out via the in-app support—we’d be happy to help!

So promising

I was so excited to find this because it was exactly what I was looking for. I put all the pictures I wanted in an album but then the widget wouldn’t allow me to select an album. It just simply didn’t work for me. I can adjust all the other settings, tried restarting my phone, but it just doesn’t work. So I tried it on my iPad, but got the same issue. Wondering if there’s a conflict with a recent update? Hoping it will get fixed because the design is perfect and simple and again exactly what I was looking for

Pretty cool once it started working

The Photo Album widget is not showing up on iOS 17. Unusable.

EDIT: The widget randomly showed up several hours later. It pulls from my shared album exactly as I hoped!

The photo frame options are weird. And I wish you could click a photo and have it go directly to that photo in the Photos app, rather than in the widget app. But now I can have a shared album as a widget!

No good for medium size widget

I made a specific album to display photo on a medium size widget. On this album all image are resized with aspect ration corresponding to medium size widget but this application is doing a mess of this album : photo displayed with arbitrary aspect ratio and badly cropped (cutting face)

Response from developer

I'm sorry the app isn't working the way you want it to. In the latest version I have improved the display of medium sized widgets.

No other widget does what this one does!

I wanted a widget that would pull images from ALL of the photos on my phone without creating an album and display them randomly. I downloaded multiple widget apps, and this was the only one that had that capability! I wish it were possible to selection an option to see the displayed image amongst all of the photos in your album, but that doesn’t seem possible here, nor were any of the other widgets capable of that which seems a little odd to me, but glad this is able to do what it does.

Exactly what I was looking for

Now I don’t have to create separate albums! I was annoyed with all the other photo widgets out there that required making an album in their app. I wanted a widget that gets pics directly from albums in the Photos app, and this is perfect! I picked this one over another one because it has configurable refresh times! (fyi, “Efect” is misspelled, it should have two f’s, “Effect”! ☺️)

Has promise but maybe not ready

This app is simple, and does what I want. I added photos to create an album. That album can now be displayed in four different formats on my iPad desktop. Great. However, I do not see how to edit this album that is created. Perhaps I have to delete the app, reinstall, and start over. Also, it would be good if we could change the timing of photo changes from 15 minutes to a smaller number, like 5 minutes.

Response from developer

First of all, thank you for using this app. The application is designed to present photos from the native albums of the Photos application. Technically, it is not possible to open a specific album in the Photos app externally, so editing must be done directly in the Photos app. Smaller values for photo timings sound good, I'll add them in a future version.
