A great utility for documents, and a joy to share old photos

It seems to be really difficult to export images except in the perfect conditions. My resulting scans, when looking to view them, are just gray boxes, when selected, for a long time. It has been a very handy app, but it's less handy when you cannot view or share the results readily.

Years ago, I thought I’d give it a try, and tried similar apps. This one stuck around. It is so easy to use. It’s great for scanning documents and photos. (The trick is putting scan items on a contrasting surface, i.e., dark surface for white or light edges or photos with white borders, and bright backgrounds for darker photos or borders, etc.)

Over the years, this app has helped so much, when I went through old family photos in my mother‘s house, to share them with the family. (The resulting image files are far better than having to slap them on a flat scanner and scan them.)

The huge value is in the quick, digital saving of memories, record-keeping, and the sharing. If it’s perfectly square, it’s a lot faster and better than with the straight camera. It provides a great result almost every time. And if I have to do it again, it’s still much easier than the alternatives, unless you have the time or patience for other ways.

The issues with slowness to actually use the scan results is giving me big doubts.

Good

Good app not intuitive

Very first photo I tried… unable to detect photo?

Not great experience if the first photo I try says unable to detect…
I tapped to take it but it doesn’t indicate where it went or if it worked…?

$60 down the drain.

Poor quality. Out of focus

I have had for a few years and worked well but now all pictures are out of focus. Emailed company and no help

A great utility for documents, and a joy to share old photos

For most of my career, I have worked in graphic design and the media. When I discovered this software, I thought I’d give it a try, and tried similar ones. This one stuck around. When I started using it, I really took to it. It is so easy to use. I have no complaints. It’s great for scanning documents and photos. Over the years, this app has helped so much, when I went through old family photos in my mother‘s house, to share them with the family. It has also been a great use for documents, from sharing business letters with ease, capturing receipts, family recipes, legal documents, and anything else. The resulting image files are far better than having to slap them on a flat scanner and scan them that way, or ship them off to have somebody else do the same thing.

Get closer, get blurry

I guess you cannot use this app with an iPhone 16. The app insists that you get very close to the print, but will not use the close up camera.

Very Useful App

I really

what am I missing?

it’s fast but the free Google one has way more detail and less artifacts

Excellent

This app does a really nice job creating “scanned” copies of photos. Get those old photos out! It’s not exactly as quick and easy as the ad makes it out to be, but it’s still very easy. The more time consuming part is going through each photo and cropping, if you want more polished pics.

Best App to Scan

Tried Google photoscan, tried Apple scan…hands down Unfade Pro beats them all in terms of performance and ease of use.

Best in class

I rarely take the time to write reviews, but I wanted to thank the developers. To my fellow photo documentarians, this app is the best of its kind, and it merits praise. My rating is authoritative, as I have tested over 100 photo scanning apps, from the Apple App Store (e.g., Adobe Scan, Scannable, Scan Thing, SnapScan, BaiOCR Text grabber scanner, etc...). This app is the only app that is not only affordable, but that has a simple and easy to use interface. The other scanner apps cannot handle bulk scanning, and crash after loading 50 or more photos (even the ones with exorbitantly high subscription fees). So aggravating. This app has the power to scan 458 photos at once, and automatically saves your work. With no hidden fees, I can’t say enough good things about this app. I wish I’d of found it sooner. Thank you to the developers.

Good to fix faded old photos.

Very handy, a real joy to share old photos

For most of my career, I have worked in graphic design and the media. When I discovered this software, I thought I’d give it a try, and tried similar ones. This one stuck around. When I started using it, I really took to it. It is so easy to use. I have no complaints.
It’s great for scanning documents and photos. The real trick is placing your items onto a background that contrasts with the edges of your item. (So, dark for white papers or photos with white edges, light for most other photographs).
Over the years, it has helped so much, when I go through old family photos in my mother‘s house, and my house, and share them with my siblings and the rest of the family.
The scanned images resulting might not be perfect reproduction, but it beats having to slap them on a flat scanner and scan them that way, or ship them off to have somebody else do the same thing. The value is in the memories and the sharing, not if it’s perfectly square. It provides a great result almost every time.

Utilisation facile. Elle fait ce qu'elle doit faire et le fait bien. Scan et envoi facile d'une centaine de photos vers l'app Photo.

Response from developer

Thank you for the kind words! We're glad to hear the app is making it easy to scan and share your photos.

Needs ability to modify photos

Update (2023-11-07): I checked the website and it is possible to use photos already taken! You just can’t import from the app. You have to open Photos and then share into the app. Adding a star for making this possible but I had to do research and check the FAQ to learn this. They should add this into the app as a feature. Update (2023-11-06): It’s been multiple years and there still is no way to use photos that have already been taken instead of from the camera. This is baffling to me. Original review: Amazing app that would get five stars except for one thing: you can only modify photos you take with the camera. You can’t choose photos that you’ve already taken in the past and saved

Blurry scans

App won't focus on photos anymore for some reason, so all scans are blurry. Used to work great.
