The app keeps getting better

Wow I like the Wikipedia interface, the new app shows how far you are from the various sites. New and useful features are added regularly to keep it fresh and up to date. I don’t know of another app as user friendly and features rich as PhotoGem.
Thanks!

Great!

What a cool app! I love all the different features especially how it shows the street view of where the photo was taken. It’s been very helpful with remembering every detail of family trips. I was also able to record my grandpa narrating a picture before he passed away. That’s something i will treasure forever. Very nice job!

Needs accessibility function

My friend is blind and she needs to caption photos by the exif so the caption travels with the image. Photogem is the best solution I have found but when voiceover is enabled to read the screen for her it becomes useless.

Please add this feature so that people who REALLY NEED this functionality on iPhones can use it to it’s full potential.

I would pay $5-10 for an app exactly like this is but that works with accessibility features turned on.

Thank you and keep me posted.

I'm sorry for this omission. Unfortunately the next version, coming out soon will also not have voiceover support. I will strongly consider it for the release after that. However the next version has a different feature that your friend may find useful. It allows you to associate a voice memo with the photo, and can be made to play when the photo is displayed.

Beautifully simple

Does one thing, and does it really well. There are several apps to edit exif data, but finding the caption field is cumbersome. With this app and the photo extensions adding a caption is dead simple. Some have complained that the caption is not viewable in Photos. That is a limitation of photos, not PhotoGem. I use google photos, and the caption is viewable there, as well as in Photos Mac. PhotoGem is also invaluable for those who want to scan old family photos.

Very limited app

Apparently, there is no way to save captions created in PhotoGem to Apple Photos! Apparently, the only way to view captions created in this app, is in PhotoGem, which is very inconvenient. What happens if PhotoGem becomes obsolete, or lost? It seems to me that if or when that happens, years of caption could become unviewable. Why can the caption not be saved to Photos, and be viewable in Photos? As it stands, I can see that it will always be a pain to always have to view my captioned photos in PhotoGem, which limits what I can do with them, e.g. can I print my CAPTIONED photos, with their captions? I don't know yet (my current printer is on the blink), but apparently not! This app is apparently (I have only used it once, but...) extremely limited and limiting. Doesn't ANYBODY make an app which puts a caption under or over the photo (not ON them), which can be saved to Photos, as part of the image file, WITH the photo???

PhotoGem does save the captions to Apple Photos with the photo. There is an open standard called IPTC that defines how & where it's stored. You can see the captions if you look at them with another 3rd party app, like imagExif. When you say you can't see them in Apple Photos (I assume on a Mac), that is because Apple Photos uses a special proprietary database for captions that 3rd party apps do not have access to. The only way to see them on the Mac would be to export them and import them again. That is not a good story but I hope it helps to explain things.

Simple but useful!

Surprisingly there is no way to add captions in Apple’s Photos, so this app fills the gap. I love that you can now access captions right from the Photos.

Can't find features promised in app description

Have this on my iPhone X but have to open the photo in the app to add a description - no option to access it from the photos or camera app as promised or see the description that's been added to the photo except from within the app. Also wish there was the option of saving the photo as a duplicate rather than having to let the app modify the photo and overwrite the original. This app is exactly what I need and has a lot of potential if developers are able to fix accessing app from within photos app and introduce duplicate option
