About

Photon SSTV turns your iPhone or iPad into a slow-scan television station. Receive pictures sent as sound over amateur radio, watch them paint line by line, and catch the International Space Station's SSTV events. RECEIVE • Decodes 13 SSTV modes live: Robot 36 and 72, Martin M1 and M2, Scottie S1, S2 and DX, and PD50 to PD240. • Finds the mode by itself from the header, or from the picture's timing if you tune in late. • Automatic slant and tuning correction, with manual slant and shift if you want them. • A live waterfall with the SSTV tones marked, in your choice of colors. • Audio from the microphone, a USB audio interface, a Bluetooth radio, SDR software on your network (GQRX, SDR++), or a recording. • Keeps decoding with the screen locked, with progress in a Live Activity and the Dynamic Island. THE ISS • Predicts every pass over your location for the next two days, with a sky chart and compass ring, and marks the passes you can see by eye. • Alerts before good passes during ARISS SSTV events. • Doppler memories for your radio: which frequencies to store, and exactly when to step between them. • A live tracker: hold your phone up to the sky and keep the ISS in the ring. The compass sits on the horizon, the pass is drawn across the sky, and a 3–2–1 countdown with haptics tells you when to change memory. Lay the phone flat for a radar view. • Practice passes: rehearse a real pass over your location with a recorded ISS transmission, then get a report on your pointing, memory switches and picture. SEND • Send a photo or test card in any mode, with your callsign and a message drawn on it. • Through the speaker, a USB interface or a Bluetooth radio, with an optional VOX pre-tone. • Transmitting requires an amateur radio licence. AND • A gallery of everything received and sent, ready to share. • Themes, including Amber CRT, Monokai, Solarized, Catppuccin, Dracula, Nord and Gruvbox. • Try it straight away: PLAY SAMPLE decodes a real ISS picture. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. Your pictures, location and settings stay on your device. A radio is needed to receive live pictures. During ISS events, a handheld FM radio is often enough.
