About

Nearly every iPhone has more than one lens on the back, so why not use them? With Photosynthesis, you can use 100% of your camera to bring your memories into sharper focus. When you take a photo, Photosynthesis fires multiple lenses at once, then combines the results into one extraordinary photo, delivering real optical detail with no generative AI. The app matches the alignment and color of each lens to create a single cohesive image. TAKE BETTER PHOTOS ON NEARLY EVERY IPHONE Photosynthesis delivers the clearest view of your subject without losing the atmosphere, dramatically improving image quality whether you're taking a long-distance shot, or your subject is only an arm's length away. For 'Pro' iPhones with a zoom lens (3 lenses on the back), Photosynthesis pairs the standard 1x lens with the telephoto zoom to give an amazing upgrade in subject detail, whether that's a singer on stage, a landmark, or the face of a loved one. iPhones with 3 lenses can also take photos with all 3 lenses at once for the ultimate combination of fine subject detail with ultra-wide scope. Every iPhone with 2+ rear lenses can pair the standard 1x lens with the ultra wide 0.5x lens to add wider context without compromising on detail, perfect for capturing the atmosphere of a live event or a group shot. POWERFUL CAPTURE SETTINGS As well as flash and timer controls, you can switch lens pairing and control capture mode from the minimalist capture screen. • SPEED mode captures multiple images at the same instant. • QUALITY mode captures multiple images at once, then takes another photo from each lens separately. The final photo is then built to give the most detail possible. • Both modes also work in low light with Photosynthesis's Night mode. There is also an optional grid and level overlaid on the viewfinder. A CUSTOM EDITOR BUILT FOR MULTIPLE-LENS PHOTOS The in-app editor provides everything you would expect, including: • Filters pre-tuned for a variety of different looks • Manual adjustments, which you can save to make your own filters • Crop, rotate, flip and straighten your images • Non-destructive editing - your original is never overwritten The editor also contains powerful features designed for the unique multiple-lens photos: • Align: tweak the relative alignment of the lenses by hand • Edit: add a filter or manual adjustments to each lens separately • Reveal: 'paint' over any visual artifacts to reveal the wider lens EXPORT IN A WIDE RANGE OF IMAGE FORMATS Photosynthesis can export photos automatically to the Photos app, as well as backup to a custom folder of your choice, and supports a wide range of export formats: • Finished image: HEIC, PNG and JPEG • Layered: Photoshop (PSD) document with one layer per lens • 3D: Apple Spatial photo, and side-by-side 3D (full or half screen) • The 'Photosynthesis' file — export and re-import without losing any layers or editing capabilities Photosynthesis is entirely free and unlimited for 5 days after you first open the app. After these 5 days, you can either unlock Photosynthesis Unlimited to keep the same full experience, offered as both a one-time purchase and a subscription, or keep using the app for free with reduced export and customization options. Photosynthesis works on every iPhone with two or more rear lenses from the iPhone 11 onwards. iPhones with 2 lenses on the back can only use the 1 + 0.5x lens pairing, while iPhones with 3 lenses on the back can choose between 1 + Zoom, 1 + 0.5x and All 3. Photosynthesis subscriptions are subject to Apple's 'LICENSED APPLICATION END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT' which can be read here: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

What's New in Photosynthesis

1.1

November 3, 2026

This is the first major update to Photosynthesis, bringing All 3 out of beta, introducing Auto Paint and adding support for iPhone Duo, as well as other improvements. ALL 3 OUT OF BETA Users with Pro iPhones can now take incredible looking photos that combine the scope of the 0.5x with the detail of the 1x and Zoom lenses. AUTO PAINT Auto Paint detects doubling caused by parallax and ‘paints’ it out to make the lens transition as seamless as possible. RESTORE ADDED TO REVEAL Restore does the opposite of the existing Reveal feature. Reveal paints through the inner lens to reveal the outer, and Restore re-adds the inner lens where it has been removed by the Reveal tool. OTHER IMPROVEMENTS • iCloud backup now syncs edits, albums, favourites and settings across multiple devices. • Colour blending at the seam now gives more priority to the colours of the higher detail lens for truer colour at the centre of each photo. • When using Compare while using the Reveal tool, the app clearly indicates what is being shown. • The app now remembers whether you’ve hidden the settings around the shutter. • Exporting photos is now faster. • Other layout & performance improvements. IPHONE DUO SUPPORT This release brings support for the different screen sizes and poses of iPhone Duo.

Could be good

Unfortunately at present, the app doesn’t work with the iPhone pro models as I cannot get the saved images to mirror what I am seeing in the app.
The RAW 48mp version of the iPhone camera works perfectly for me so I will stick to that.

Response from developer

In really sorry to hear you’ve had that experience, I assure you it must be a specific issue as hundreds of testers didn’t experience this. Please get in touch on hello@photosynthesis.camera and I’ll try to figure it out!
