Decent but too much distraction

I’m all for apps with ads, but to sit through intro music (mute button hard to see), seemingly unskippable self promotion and then wants lots of permissions -
I’m not sold. Then constant reminder that it is a 7 day trial. Honestly, to ID a mushroom twice a year, it isn’t worth it. Books are cheaper as are free Internet searches. A shame as it seems to have decent functionality.

Best Mushroom Identifier App!

I’ve tried a ton of mushroom identifying apps and for the PNW, this one is the best!! I love that it shows me what may be popping up in my area in the current month and the next. The info is solid and identification highly accurate! I like it so much I purchased a subscription to the app, which says a lot for me! I would highly recommend it to anyone from novice-expert enthusiasts.

Absolutely love this app

Been my go-to for years now. Highly recommend. My only complaint is that the app doesn't identify slime molds- that would be an awesome feature to add.

LOVE THISSSS

IT EVEN SAVES LOCATION OF SHROOM!!!!

How can you not love mushrooms?

This app by far is my most favorite because it’s always on the money for identifying fungi.

Misidentified

I just bought these from a local fruit and vegetable grocery store. Your app is saying they’re toxic. It’s calling them white dome caps. And they are snow/seafood mushrooms.

Don’t recommend

This app isn’t really helpful. When o take a pic from this app i expect to tell me n tone name like “edible or poisonous” I shouldn’t copy the name and go to google to answer me this question. Second, I can take a picture of the same mushrooms 3 times and it gives me different identification. How safe is it? I have been charge for something I can’t fully trust.

Great app for identifying and collecting mushroom finds!

5 stars

no identification app is perfect but this is the best i’ve found. good job

I love mushrooms

Since I love mushrooms, I love this app now because I could identify all the mushrooms that I don’t know

What about food?

The app is fairly reliable in identifying mushrooms of all kinds, but it could include certain edibility factors like; can it be eaten, is preparing necessary to make it safe for consumption, or, is it definitely toxic.

Love this app

I’ve been using Picture Mushroom for quite a while, and it’s become one of my favorite apps. I love exploring the outdoors and photographing wild mushrooms, and this app makes the entire process both educational and fun. The identification feature is fast, easy to use, and has helped me learn about countless species I would have otherwise never recognized.

What I appreciate most is how it encourages curiosity. Instead of just walking past mushrooms, I’m constantly stopping to take photos and learn something new. The app’s interface is user-friendly, and the information provided is detailed enough to keep both beginners and experienced mushroom enthusiasts engaged.

Of course, mushroom identification can be incredibly complex, and no app can be perfect. My only wish is that there were a way to achieve 100% certainty on every identification. Some species are simply too similar to distinguish from a photo alone. That said, Picture Mushroom does an impressive job and has greatly enhanced my mushroom-hunting experiences.

Overall, it’s a fantastic app that I use regularly and would highly recommend to anyone interested in mushrooms, nature, or learning more about the world around them.

mushrooms

i am familiar with a lot of mushrooms
with this app it just helps me more
thanks 👍

Love this app!

This app is such a great thing to have during my hikes. I see mushrooms all over the place country and the fact all I have to do is snap a photo and I’m shared all the info on the mushroom is amazing!

BS

Worthless

No toxicity guidance

The app used to tell you if the mushrooms are safe to consume or not, which is why I paid for the subscription… but apparently they now just have a generic warning that the information can’t be used to determine if it’s safe to consume. Won’t be renewing unless this changes.

Awesome

Don’t have to subscribe every picture add to the database. It’s very informative. Love this app.

Extremely helpful, could be better

This app is ALMOST the mushroom ID app that everyone deserves, and be remiss if I didn't call it one of the best out there right now. The AI is genuinely good, and it provides a lot of excellent identification content, plus some great general content. Where I find it frustrating is not being able to re-access the identification flow and suggestions without creating a new entry. Sometimes I'm unsure, and really want to go back to re-evaluate, but the only way to get it to re-suggest is to re-upload pics. It also really needs better location data management—we should be able to edit the location (particularly if I have to go back and redo an entry later from home, but better entry editing would solve this problem), and more importantly, be able to obscure exact locations like iNaturalist for all kinds of reasons. I would also appreciate more optional photos slots for spore prints, cross-sections, and microscope pics, at least in the paid version.
