great game, read if your interested

overall, pilgrims was a great game. I loved the adventure and the art. i must say that this game is a bit too easy, and takes less than 30 minutes to finish. the main goal is getting a bird for an old witch (storyline doesn’t make sense) you have to go through stages of getting things for the other civilians and do some really random things and interact with odd things. this would’ve been a 5 star if it weren’t so easy and fast to finish. looking at this game I didn’t expect it to be so easy, nor fast. so i really would recommend updating it and adding another storyline that isn’t as short. otherwise, i completely recommend this game and hope the you the reader get this app.

A must play!

This is one of the more fun games I’ve found on Apple Arcade and I recommend it highly. I can’t give five stars to just any game but it is a four star for sure. I like the mumbly voices for the characters, the art is simple and cool, and it is really fun going back to replay it to try and get all the accomplishments. They aren’t all easy or simple, either. I am at 36 accomplishments now(of 45, I believe) and I am stuck, but I don’t mind- a good game should have replayability, and that is a big selling point for me. Go waste sometime on this one. I bet you like it, too!

No Sense

I am willing to give any game that is a point and click a chance. But when I get stuck right in the very beginning trying to figure out how to get a water to boil potatoes and I have to get a bird in order to go out on a boat. That’s a bit much. This game does not make any sense and of course I read the reviews about the cards. But the cards don’t help if you can’t get the items necessary. Thank God it was free because deletion is done.

Another fantastic adventure.

I remember getting Machinarium back in 2013 or so, when it barely came out. It took me years to finish that game! I loved it so much, and I still do. The art, the story, and the arrangement of everything was fantastic, and truly captured my imagination as a little kid. Amanita has done it once again with Pilgrims. Thank you guys so much for making these awesome games.

💎Charming adventure with multiple paths!

Absolutely charming music and animation. Feels like stepping inside a real folktale. Unlike any other game I’ve played, this is refreshingly different. I love it - thank you for the care and attention to detail that went into this creating this game. I would love to play more stories with the same characters.

Brimming with Culture

My first play through was amazing. Having grown up playing early console and computer games, I appreciate having to “figure things out” on your own to learn how to play. The animations and illustrations are fabulous and rich. The music and dialogue is enjoyable and the mechanics are perfect for a phone or tablet.

My maternal grandmother was a first generation Slovak-American and I feel so much of her family in this. There’s a balance of melancholy and joy in this game that perfectly embodies the Slovak side of my family. Thanks to all who put their energy and talents into this game. Your contributions really shine!

Fun, Quick Point & Click!

For the people who complain that there is no text and the game is hard to follow, the game is actually really straight forward and all the hints lie within the cards. All you have to do is tap the cards for a preview. The game is great and allows you to try different methods to get different outcomes in each scenario.

For those of you who actually read reviews before playing a game, just don’t listen to the 1 star reviews, they’re all written by people who don’t want to put even the slightest effort in trying to figure out a SIMPLE POINT AND CLICK game or are legit complaints about a bug that seems to have been patched already.

Fun game! My only complaint is that it is very short and does leave you wanting more. Was able to 100% the game in a few hours. Hoping to see more in the future!

Fun for almost any age

I absolutely loved playing this game! Definitely very creative and captivating. The challenge of earning every card with so many different choices and combinations certainly kept my interest. The artwork and animations were especially fun and made Pilgrims a worthwhile and addictive game to play. Bravo!

FINALLY!

I love, love, love this game. Finally something new. Choosing cards to interact with characters is a hoot…the reactions are funny. Plus, there is a map so you don’t have to spend time tediously walking from place to place. I wish the game was longer, much longer!

Lovely and folkloric!

This is a beautifully done game, with a unique and charming art style and nice details/sound design. As others have mentioned, playing it through once won’t take long; think of it as a card-collecting game where a great deal of the reward is discovering new things with each story “retelling.” Not for everyone, but I’d still recommend giving it a try!

What a Gem

I absolutely love this game. It’s short and sweet, worth playing multiple times. The gameplay is smooth and wonderful without the need of dialogue. The change of music throughout the scenes fit so well. I really appreciate this game and it’s worth the time!

This game is perfect. Download immediately.

I literally never leave reviews, but I felt like I HAD to with this game. Everything about it is so charming and beautiful. The art, the music, it’s so simple yet so full of depth. Despite the lack of dialogue, it’s still so easy to understand and feel immersed. I am absolutely dying to have more of this story, even after playing through many times to get different outcomes. The only bad thing I can say about this game is that it’s not longer, I need MORE because I want to continue to get lost in this little world with all of these characters.

Too short

I finished the game in about 30-45 mins. I thought giving the lady the bird would take me to a new level but it ended the game, which was a disappointment. I played it a couple more times to unlock all the cards but it wasn’t as fun the second and third time around. This game was great- just wish it was longer.

Good, but so, so short.

I really enjoy these types of fun, nonverbal adventure games that get across the instructions/goals via pictographs. I am a fan of Machinarium and Botanicula. I was having a blast with Pilgrims, so imagine my surprise when, after getting to the point where you can cross the river, the game suddenly ENDED instead of simply taking you to a new map as I’d assumed it would. It was a real let down, and is the reason why I can’t give the game 5 stars. I did a complete run through in just a few hours of gameplay. I suppose they expect replay value in order to collect all of the cards, but honestly that doesn’t incentivize me much (I’m not an achievement completionist). I really was just hoping for it to continue. But for the short game it was, it was unique and I had fun playing it.

So far so good

I’m not one to write reviews, ever. But I thought it was necessary. No, there aren’t any instructions or tutorials but you really don’t need them. It’s pretty easy to figure out. The one thing I actually love is that this game is in portrait mode. The gibberish doesn’t bother me but you can put your phone on silent and the problem is solved. I literally just started the game today so that’s the only reason why I gave it 4 stars.

There’s no audio control. Unplayable.

How in the year 2020 does an app developer fail to include a basic volume control or, hell, even just mute the literal gibberish?

This is a game ostensibly about nonverbal communication. Why with the all the grunting? W the actual F?

Giving this a star for the benefit of the doubt that perhaps there’s a game here to play but I sure as hell won’t know because I prefer to listen to audiobooks while playing these kinds of games and this crap audio is distilled nopenope.

I wish there was more

I love this game so much and it’s so exciting and well made, I just wish that after you unlock all the achievements there was a new level with more adventures and even a new map. Like maybe if when you go on the boat at the end it would take you to another location with a new objective. I love this game so much and really wish there was more. I really hope to see a new map with the next update. Please consider my ideas thank you.

Another winner from Amanita Design!

I eagerly await each release from Amanita design, and this did not disappoint. This one was very short, light hearted and fun. And as with all Amanita games, great puzzles to think through and solve. As a whole, I love all nuances with characters in their games; and the cohesiveness of this coupled with the fantastic art, sound and story lines create a fantastic world to escape to for a few minutes whenever I need break. One request though, PLEASE bring us the next iteration of Samorost AND PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE Machinarium 2 next!!!!

Lighthearted, Creative Fun!

After “beating” the game the first time, I returned to the game three more times to collect all the achievements. It was a real hoot finding out how to attain all the achievements using all five characters in various ways. What a fun, creative game that keeps you laughing and smiling along the way. Way to go, Amanita and Apple Arcade!

Cute!

This game is a very cute concept. It is pretty short but it’s still rewarding. Sometimes it is hard to know what to do next. I wish you could try to get all the achievements without starting over at the end of the game but this isn’t possible because some characters are needed for them that you no longer have
