About
Pinfold is an offline catalogue for your KML and KMZ files. Import the places you care about once — trails, travel itineraries, scouted locations, survey points, saved pins exported from other mapping tools — then browse and navigate them anywhere, with no signal required.
Most KML files come from somewhere else: Google Earth exports, GIS tools, a guide who shared a route, a colleague's site survey. Pinfold gives those files a permanent, organized home on your device instead of leaving them buried in email attachments and downloads folders.
BUILT FOR OFFLINE
• Load a file once with a connection, then use it completely offline.
• Icons and photos referenced by the file are cached on import, so they're there when you're off the grid.
• Nothing depends on a server — your library lives on your device.
BROWSE YOUR PLACES
• Navigate the original folder hierarchy from the KML, exactly as it was authored.
• Tap any placemark for its full details: description, photos, and any extended data fields the file carries.
• Custom placemark icons and colors from the file's styles are preserved.
SEE IT ON THE MAP
• View all of a file's pins together on an embedded map.
• Nearby pins group into numbered clusters when you zoom out, so dense files stay readable.
NAVIGATE WITH THE APP YOU ALREADY USE
• Open any place in Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze, Organic Maps, Guru Maps, OsmAnd, Magic Earth, Citymapper, and more.
• Set a default map app for one-tap navigation, or pick each time.
• Apps you don't have installed are hidden automatically.
IMPORT FROM ANYWHERE
• Share a .kml or .kmz file to Pinfold from any app.
• Open KML/KMZ files directly from the Files app or attachments.
• Import several files at once.
KEEP YOUR LIBRARY IN SYNC (OPTIONAL)
• Turn on iCloud to keep your imported files on every device signed in to the same iCloud account.
• Your files stay in your private iCloud — Pinfold has no account and no servers.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No account, no sign-up, no ads, no tracking.
• Your location is shown only on your device and never leaves it.
Pinfold is a viewer and launcher: it reads your files faithfully and hands you off to the navigation app you prefer. Bring your places; take them anywhere.

What's New in Pinfold
1.7
July 2, 2026
• Pinfold now picks up where you left off — if iOS closes the app in the background, it reopens on the same file, page, and scroll position, with your search and sorting intact. Turn it off anytime in Settings. • Each file's map remembers its position and zoom, plus whether you were following your location. A new button zooms back out to show all pins. • Fixed: the map no longer jumps to your current location on its own.
