Quick Pīnyīn
The app is handy for quickly revealing pīnyīn over Hànzì.
Similarly to the last review, more tools are needed for making the result more useful for documents.
The app would benefit from the following to bump up its star rating. Examples readily available in web based applets :
1. Quick one button to copy the result, as selecting in the app is cumbersome. Choose to select Pīnyīn only, or also with Hànzì.
2. Set colours for the Hànzì & Pīnyīn result, which also copy across. User selectable using ‘apple crayons’ & numeric value and colour picker as options.
3. Result options to suit differing levels of learning stage : Pīnyīn characters with tones (as currently), Tones over Hànzì, Hànzì only but with above mentioned colours to represent tone.
4. Option to automatically recognise tone rules for output, and indicate when and to which Hànzì this is applied.
5. Setting for copying across text e.g. include Pīnyīn over/under/after & in brackets, etc.
6. Settings for formatting text.
7. Select male/female voice for sound output.

Good
Translates really well. However when wanting to copy and paste to notes or email the conversion, it makes all the characters and pinyin separated and into a single downwards line. Please fix it.
I am not at all satisfied with this.
I bought this expecting it to be a robust app capable of taking pictures of the characters and translating them into pinyin so I can do my homework faster. Why the hell do I need an app to translate into pinyin I already know? Wasted money.
I would like a refund please.

Great app, but with some text errors.
I study Chinese a lot & conveniently use this app for audio practice. It’s quite good, but sometimes the text, especially Chinese numbers, are listed as asterisks. That’s the only gripe.
Doesn't work anymore
The newest iOS update does not support this app, which I've had for about a year and used just fine... please update!!!!
Got worse
After updating iOS 10, there is no more "define" button so you can't learn at all what the characters mean. The only thing that works is the audio. When you put in walls of text, there are whole paragraphs where the pinyin are not converted. And there is no cancel button for the "clear text". You have no idea how many times I accidentally pressed clear text when I didn't want to.

Doesn't Work
I bought the app this morning and tried it out. After conversion, every paragraph ended with a Speak button so the phone would pronounce the text, which is good; but not all paragraphs were tagged with pinyin. Every few paragraphs were just skipped. This app has ONE job, and currently cannot manage to do it.

Not cut and paste friendly
I was disappointed that when I wanted to cut and paste the converted text it runs the characters and pinyin altogether into an illegible paragraph. That's not very helpful.

非常好 Very Good, Useful app!
You can easily not only convert into pinyin, but also can get audio pronunciation pronunciation. But, I found it makes a little mistake. If you type 对牛弹琴, you will get "duì niú dànqín". Exactly it is "duì niú tán qín". Other than these kinds of mistakes, very useful app.

I like this App, but...
How do I make corrections after the characters have been pinyinized and the translation is wrong?
For example 供 给 shows as gōnggěi when it should be gōngjǐ.
I would like to be able to make the changes in the App or a Pdf file.

Excellent
Extremely useful app for many ppl who speaks chinese but have trouble learning to read/write. No internet connection required is crucial, too.
Great Idea but needs more functionality
This is a great little app, but needs some more thought on how people might want to use it.
I wanted to be able to add pinyin underneath the Chinese in songs. So that people who do not know Chinese could at least sing along.
What is shown on the screen is okay, but formatting options would be appreciated. Biggest disappointment was then when I copied the text it added the pinyin in brackets after easy character. You never see this and looks terrible in PowerPoint. It needs to at least have the option to recognise lines and add the pinyin nicely spaced under the Chinese.
But as there is nothing else out there that does what what this app does it is a useful tool, but it could be so much better. A few well thought out modifications and you would have a very useful app.
