Not great.
Way better before the pay wall
What was once a fun, accessible app now feels like a constant attempt to squeeze money out of users. Features that made the app enjoyable are locked behind subscriptions, and the free experience is so restricted that it’s barely usable. Every time you try to do something, you’re reminded that you need to pay.
The worst part is that the app has gotten less enjoyable while becoming more expensive. There are plenty of AI apps that offer more value without aggressively limiting users at every turn.
I can’t recommend Pirr AI in its current state. If you’re looking for an AI storytelling app, there are better options that don’t put nearly everything behind a paywall.
Okay
It’s a good app, just needs more refining and more options
My creative outlet
Ruined by the pay wall
It’s an ok app
Extremely limited
Used to be good
wonderful. It was free, which separated it from so many writing apps. The interface was very user friendly and overall, it was great. But now, the app has changed. Ever since the typewriter update months ago, it has gotten worse. The memory has decreased, it will no longer write explicit scenes, and it just feels different. It directly avoids using any sort of detail, instead opting for the characters to be interrupted. If you do manage to get it to write something uninterrupted, it won’t say any words one could deem “explicit”. If you try to guide the AI, it will do what you want for one paragraph, then it goes back to its vague or avoidant style. I miss how it used to be. But now, I have to pay 13 dollars to get the same experience that I used to get for free. 13 dollars is a lot of money to pay per month. I just wish it would go back to the way that it was, or that the free level included everything that the app used to be, while premium was just new features. I can use other apps for cheaper, but I really hope that they will fix this do that I don't because as I mentioned, the app has a unique design that I love. Overall, I feel sort of tricked, because everything that I used to get for free, I didn't get for several months, and then when they fixed some issues, new ones were
introduced and I suddenly had to pay money for it. I just wish that this would go back to how it was.
Great, another subscription that locks away key features
That being said, I wouldn’t even mind if the subscriptions didn’t lock away the most BASIC features. Limited amount of actions is fine (you can get a surprising amount with what you’re given). The amount of redos you get is pitifully low, though it’s possible that this is more personal preference on my end. Locking away custom vibes and locations is BEYOND stupid, but it can easily be worked around by mentioning them in the intro prompt.
What I CANNOT forgive is making the max amount of characters to be just ONE. I can’t select more than ONE character without shilling real money. Wanted to generate a story with two specific characters in mind? You’re out of luck. Unlike locations and vibes, characters need much more text to explain (personalities, appearance, etc.), so you either need to find a way to shoehorn the info into a prompt (which you’d have the copy if you want to use the character multiple times) or hope and pray the bot will just get it right or something (Also, it’s way too easy to delete character profiles. Run your finger the wrong way, and it’s gone forever). As you can tell, this was the turning point for me.
I understand needing to generate revenue, but subscriptions should not actively make the user experience more inconvenient. It’s less restrictive than other subscriptions I’ve seen, don’t get me wrong, but the locked features mentioned above make me really reconsider if I want to keep using this.

Response from developer
Thanks so much for using Pirr and for sharing such a detailed review. We’re really sorry that the recent changes have made the app feel worse for you, especially after you enjoyed the earlier version. That’s not the experience we want for anyone. Pirr is built by a small team and to keep improving and maintaining the app we’ve had to introduce a paid plan and move some of the more intensive features there, while still offering a trimmed down free version for people who choose it. We know 13 dollars/month is a significant commitment and it’s completely fair to compare it with other options. Your feedback about memory, explicit content limits and how the app feels after the typewriter update is really valuable. We can’t promise to return to the exact old setup, but we are actively working on making Pirr feel great to use within the technical and safety constraints we have. If you’re open to it, you’re very welcome to email us at support@pirr.me with more details so we can look more closely at your experience.
Lost Stories
Deceptive
For months, the developers instructed users (via Discord) to ignore "Premium Upgrade" pop-ups, calling them "bugs." Now, they have released a real trial through a pop-up that looks identical.
1. Bait and Switch/False Terms: The pop-up explicitly offered a 30-Day Free Trial. When asked in general on discord it was revealed that it is only 14 days despite the writing on the pop up. Access to premium features ends at 14 and then users must pay. Developers refuse to honor the written 30-day term, claiming the text was "old copy." This is a clear breach of trust and consumer law.
2. Hidden Pricing (Severe Violation): There is NO pricing information inside the app or on this store page. Users are forced to visit external links (Discord/Website) to find out the cost after the trial. This is a severe violation of App Store guidelines on price transparency.
3. Warning: I was not charged because I caught the deception early, but users are being tricked into a paid product after being conditioned to ignore the warning signs.
Do not trust the pop-ups or download this app until all deceptive practices are resolved. This needs to be reviewed by [Apple/Google] for policy compliance.
