PitchSmith: Tuner & Metronome

Tuner, metronome, recorder — the three things musicians use every day. Every feature is free. A single banner ad sits at the bottom of the screen, and one optional purchase hides it. That purchase unlocks nothing, because nothing is locked. PitchSmith is a practice tool built for school band members, exam students and self-taught players: open it and tune, flip to the metronome, then record today's practice with one tap. CHROMATIC TUNER • Real-time needle dial with a ±50 cent scale; the ring glows and taps gently when you hit the pitch • A4 calibration from 430–450 Hz (defaults to 442, common for wind bands) • Transposing presets: clarinet & trumpet in Bb, alto sax in Eb, horn in F, flute — the dial shows written note names • Guitar mode: detects the nearest string automatically, beginner friendly • 12 reference tones for ear training and drone practice, sine or triangle, octaves 2–6 METRONOME • 30–300 BPM with Tap Tempo • 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 and 6/8 with accented downbeats and a beat-light row • Subdivisions: eighths, triplets, sixteenths • Sample-accurate clicks that never drift; keeps ticking with the screen locked PRACTICE RECORDER • Start recording from any tab, name and save when you stop • Replay by date, slow down to 0.75×, export m4a via the share sheet • Record while the metronome runs: use headphones for the click and your take stays clean PRIVACY Pitch detection, the metronome and your recordings all run on this device. There is no account and no sync, and microphone audio never leaves your phone. The only network use is loading the bottom banner, and there is no tracking and no App Tracking Transparency prompt.
