Great app overall.. but
Response from developer
True, unfortunately I can no longer update any apps as my MacBook Pro is too old. I got a new iMac but it was stolen. I’m terminating all my apps as I don’t want to pay to keep them live if I can’t build or update anything. Goodbye iOS!
My go-to pixel app…
Response from developer
Thanks for your feedback, all good suggestions. It’s true I’ve not touched it in a while. I have a tendency to build things then move onto something else completely losing interest in past projects without updating or improving things as much as should. Anyway I don’t intend to remove it from sale although sometimes Apple will just boot apps out if they don’t get updated much and they don’t have many downloads. I’m glad you like using it anyway. Unfortunately I’m a one man band, if I had a team I’d kick them into action immediately but I guess I need to kick myself into action instead lol
This app is awesome but I need some things
Issues
However, there are a few issues.
1. You cannot import photos or new files.
2. You can’t shift color hues after placing them, so if you want to edit colors on a sprite or scene, you must do it manually.
3. You can’t copy your files.
4. Please add reference lines for the center of a sheet.
Response from developer
Hi thanks for feedback, you are correct on all points apart from first point. You can import sprite sheets by clicking on the image in photo’s app then opening with pixel art pro. But you need to have the extension enabled in your share options. It then asks you to select width and height in pixels. There shouldn’t be any spacing between adjacent tiles otherwise it won’t import correctly. If you notice iOS apps don’t have an open file option. Instead you normally click on the file, then load it into an app - provided the app implements an extension for that functionality.
Amazing But needs work
Response from developer
Hi Princesskittykatkit, glad you like it. Sorry to hear about deleting work with png export. I can’t reproduce the problem. But there is one thing in that if you export to animated png format when you look at it in your photo’s app it looks stationary. This is a limitation of the photo’s app, if you select it and send it as a text message or email to yourself you will see it is in fact animated. If you mean it deletes your actual project, I don’t know. Please feel free to contact me on dan@cuffedtothekeyboard.com to explain in more detail so I can fix it. Regards, Dan
Add more tool
(Edit: uhh, ok, but I’ve found a better app that solve my problems, it’s called paint98, but I’ll use this app still.)
Response from developer
Thanks yes it is quite minimal, but you know, it’s free, I made it in my spare time. If it was actually a business I’d invest more into it and try to make it better. Any investors out there who want to fund this - please do get in touch ;)
Suggestions
in the middle of painting and take that small part of armor or whatever
and add it to it or reference pictures
but other then that this app is a must
have.
Great for free
For a simple animation sprite editor; fast and strait forward.

Thanks for informing about the iPhone 5 ok button on the on colour picker. I've just updated it so that it has less sliders on the screen at once with a selector to choose between RGB or HSV. I've just submitted the new version 1.6, it should be available soon - Cheers, Dan
PNG export doesn't export all frames
Edit: PNG export doesn't export all frames.
Also, add ability to scale canvas with an option to restrain . If it's 64x64, allow scaling up to at least 2048x2048 while retaining pixel integrity and canvas proportions.
- Onion skinning for the frames
- Export to png files (per frame). I like the tile feature too (transparent backgrounds).
- I'd love to use this for game rev for the Hyperpad IOS app.
Great job with the interface and features.
I currently use Piskel, which doesn't work on. mobile devices. Check that app out for ideas for features.
Issue: eraser doesn't erase correctly. When at 64x64 resolution I can't adjust pixel brush size to erase smaller sections?
Pixel art
Great Tool for Sprite and Tile Creation
Interface is simple enough and gets you right to working. The animation tool is fantastic and very easy to use. There aren't a ton of drawing tools to use, just the basics, but what's there works and is easy to use.
Overall, I'd say this might not be best tool for doodling up large pixel art scenes, but for making animated sprites and tiles it's perfect!
