Great communication and active development
sad
first off the design of the app itself is so bland and not very appealing to the eye. a lot of the coloration is dark and hard to see even with brightness turned up.
the layout of the app had me really confused and it took me a bit to find where everything was that i wanted to do.
when i started using it it was a bit of a let down and i was sad, not everything was covered when i had everything turned on and it was really buggy for the placement of it too. makes it seem really ai generated and i have to give it all these permissions.. makes that slightly concerning
the fact i can only use it in safari too is a little disappointing because i rarely use safari as it is. im not sure if ill use it in the future
Response from developer
Thank you for the detailed feedback. This is genuinely useful to us, and we're sorry the app fell short of what you'd hoped for. Since your review, we've shipped a major compatibility update that addressed many of the early detection and censor placement issues you describe, with improved coverage across popular sites and video. If you're willing to give it another try, we'd love to hear how it compares. If anything is still missed or misplaced, please email us at support@pixelblocker.app with the site where it happened. We ship detection and placement improvements in nearly every update, and specific examples drive those fixes. On permissions: the access Safari requests exists so the extension can scan images on the pages you visit and place censors over them. That work happens on your device, and we don't collect or transmit your browsing data. We understand broad permissions deserve scrutiny, and we'd rather explain them than have you wonder. Safari-only is an Apple platform limitation rather than our choice. iOS doesn't allow any third-party app to filter content inside other apps, and Safari is the only browser that supports the extension framework filtering requires. The app also includes its own built-in filtered browser. Your points on the dark colour palette and layout are noted. Readability and easier navigation are fair asks, and they're on our list as we refine the design.
AI slop and runs bad
Secondly, you can only use it in safari which defeats the entire purpose of the app, and even when you do use it in safari it doesn’t run well.
Wouldn’t recommend
