Disturbing Content and Poor Moderation
This app, as well as the website of the same name, allows R18 and R18G content. This means users can encounter content depicting the abuse of women, rape, graphic violence, and the sexualization of minors. It feels like a platform where almost anything is permitted, with very few meaningful ethical boundaries.
The way images are displayed is also extremely cluttered and overwhelming. After browsing for a while, I felt as though my mind had been filled with disturbing and unnecessary content.
Yes, users can choose to hide some explicit material, but I do not think that is the real issue. Some types of content should not be permitted on a platform in the first place.
These works may be drawings or fantasies rather than real events, but once they are publicly created, circulated, and normalized, they can still influence how people think about women, children, sexuality, violence, and human relationships.
For these reasons, I find the platform deeply unpleasant and cannot recommend it.

Site is better than app
The Pixiv app is horrible and you’re better off using the website. For some reason, on tablet and mobile, there’s no way to change the reading direction. On the site you can. For some reason, on tablet (iPad), I can’t view double page spreads. On the site I can.
I don’t know why they decided to make the app worse than the website in every conceivable way. To me, it’s unusable. I’m not gonna vertically scroll while reading on my iPad. I’m gonna read other comics on every other comic app that let me view it page by page, horizontally.

pixiv is great by itself. App is very convenient too. I wish there was a function to disable R-18 works, though. Nonetheless, I absolutely love the app.

This is a terrible update. Buttons are unresponsive, and after a while, several identical pages pop up. The preload time for new images is unreasonably long. The update does not solve the problem.

You get random full screen ads that have no way of being closed, forcing you to restart the app if you want to keep using it
