Not reliable
When the app works it’s great. I love being able to listen to books as I am getting my stuff done or while I’m in the car. However, I frequently get the error where it says the server can’t be reached. It can take several weeks for the error to be resolved. Additionally, when this happens my place in the book is lost.

plappa + audiobookshelf server + tailscale
My family has been searching for an iOS app that would sync with our Audiobookshelf home server. Plappa does not disappoint! Thank you for creating this awesome app!
(Note: When we are away from home, we connect to our home server via tailscale, and are able to sync/download our audiobooks without having to set up any special remote access configurations in the Plappa app. Tailscale is wonderful for this!)

Honestly, I don’t take time to write reviews often. I think this app is just right. I wish it was available on Android, I’d use it over native audiobookshelf app. Is even pay for this app.
Better than audible
This does everything that I need it to do and isn’t annoying at all.
Great for Audiobookshelf
I use this software every day for listening to audiobooks. The only feature I need is to be able to be smart about connecting to my LAN when I am on home wifi rather than routing over the Internet which takes forever to download a local copy.
Does not update chapters
Updated my book on ABS. But plappa stuck at old chapters. Don’t know how to get sync again.

Best audiobook app
I have been waiting for something like for so long. Happy to pay the one time fee.
Usable but buggy
I’ve been using this for a months now and while it gets the job done, I find myself having to restart it all the time due to issues. At the end of a book, it will just show an error message. Sometimes when I view a books contents, it’s all unpopulated. I found streaming was twitchy so I just listen to downloaded books.
It’s not “bad”, but with a slow update schedule, your best bet is to find another app. Hopefully the developer will prioritize bug fixes sooner than later.

The best app I ever bought
Can’t believe that I got to have a lifetime subscription for essentially a cup of coffee. Huge respect to the developer!!
Perfect
I tried it for half an hour before I decided to pay the developer for his amazing work. AudioBooth is not bad but plappa is a whole different level. Polished, easy to use, and the interface makes more sense to me. Worth it.
Better free options available
This app is fine but not worth the money. AudioBooth offers better features for less money. Lack of support for family purchases and no sleep fade out timer meant I left Plappa behind

Fantastic app, small reco
I adore this app. My only request is that the download manager should’ve more fault tolerant. I find that I often expect to have something downloaded and it doesn’t complete. Usually not an issue, but made for a rude surprise on flights.
Mostly great, but has inefficiencies
Best of the top 6 similar apps, but here’s why I docked a star
1. If you are playing live (not offline) and you lose connection such as driving through area with no signal and playback stops due to no data the app doesn’t automatically start playing again and I couldn’t get it to start again while in CarPlay. I tried pause/resume/pause, switching to Spotify then switching back. Super annoying if you drive through low/no signal areas.
2. If you change your library folder paths there’s no way to update the plappa cached data. You literally have to uninstall the app to delete all data, then reinstall. Doesn’t happen often but there should be a Reset Data option.
3. I listen to podcasts AND audiobooks regularly. I wish I could change the tabs to Home, Audiobooks, Podcasts rather than pointless tabs that I’ll never use.
4. I wish home page would show items from multiple libraries. Currently, you have to click a button at the top of the app to change libraries before seeing recently played

Best client for Audiobookshelf on IOS
Plappa does everything you’d need an audiobook app to do and it even has plenty of preference setting too. Good app 👍
