About
In this app, you will receive information about visitor destinations in the Table Mountain Geopark. The destinations are divided into four different themes: A journey in time through 1700 million years, The first communities, The humans and the mountains as resources and Nature and the outdoors today.
At the moment, the work is progressing for the application to Unesco 2019, to become Sweden's first Unesco Global Geopark. An geopark is an area of geology of international importance - thus something unique in the world. We're stating that we have that in the Table Mountain landscape here in Västergötland! In an geopark you can tell about the connections between geology, biology, human and cultural history. Visitors and/or residents of Table Mountain Geopark will be able to learn more about the mountains and its surroundings and experience staggering historical stories and happenings.
The intended geopark extends over nine municipalities; Trollhättan, Vänersborg, Grästorp, Lidköping, Götene, Skara, Mariestad, Skövde and Falköping. Grästorp Municipality is a project owner. This app is part of a venture funded by the EU rural development program.
