Latest version no longer able to play MP4 videos from SMB (samba) shares, stuck on 50% buffering
Recent versions broke network viewing
This has been my go to video player for network MP4s, but recent releases that broken this. regardless of what you do they get stuck at 50% buffering. same on all devices - VNC still works fine though

I have been using PlayerXtreme Video Player for a long time. I have seen the program change and improve. There is nothing even close to the ease and quality of this app. If you choose not to use it, you are making a huge mistake.

This app use to be good
Its been years since i bought the pro version and i was able to play movies in subtitles mode but now this new version of the app wants it users to pay monthly/ yearly for something that they had good years ago. Im uninstalling this garbage subscription. I can understand if it was a one time fee like the last pro version. I rarely download movies on my phone with subtitles and this app to supported that feature after i paid for it years ago and they took it away.

Most Excellent Media Player
I’ve used the PlayerXtreme since it launched. It’s always just worked regardless of devices I’ve use it with (iPhone, iPad mini and currently iPad Pro). And there’s never been an issue with functionality after an iOS update.
I can upload and organize my media the way I want to unlike iOS forces you to. I’ve had no problems with various codec formats.
I personally like PlayerXtreme’s ability to download subtitles when watching video. That’s fantastic for foreign film watchers like myself and hard of hearing people (like my spouse (shh 🤫)).

Keeps Repeating same track
I have cleared the cache before every use to stop the same track from continuously repeating . Repeat is turned off and continuous play is turned on. But, must time when I play the first track , it repeats.

Playback Speed
Love the app …. Especially the playback speed feature, maybe also add in playback speed of 1.25, 1.5, 1.75….. coz 1.5 is too fast for some videos and may need a 1.25 speed….Otherwise I love the App ❤️❤️
New look but !
I am very happy with the new design of Dark Mode, but with this update the program has become slower to open!! In addition to an old problem that still exists, which is when I play some high-quality 1080p videos and select a specific section of it , the program hangs and no longer responds... forcing me to close it and reopen the program ... Please solve these two problems: 1-The problem of slow opening of the program 2- the problem of freezing when seek fullHD video .

Now you have too pay for subtitle, this is ridiculous.
Good app but controls are not great
Overall, I really like this app. Unlike many other free video players, this one actually IS free and DOES play a variety of video types, without a bunch of limitations like “only 5 minutes worth” or “you can only upload 3 videos”.
I deducted a star because the controls drive me crazy on a regular basis. I’ve been using this app for about 3 years or so, and I still encounter frustrations pretty much every single time I use the app. It always asks if I want to start playing where I left off, but it never does; it always starts from the beginning. Also, inevitably I touch my iPhone accidentally when picking it up, and that brief accidental touch causes the video to jump forward or backward, causing me to lose my place. Although it’s annoying, I’m not really complaining because it’s free and it plays videos. But this issue with the controls definitely holds me back from paying for the full version.

General ok but some issues need fixed
For the most part it works for what its supposed to do. Some things are really annoying and need fixed:
1. The app used to open instantly. Now it takes about 10 seconds to open with a loading bar (no clue what it’s doing, app barely looks different besides some UI elements?)
2. Attached keyboard arrows don’t work while playing a video, in other apps or native iOS video player, it jumps back or forward, or up/down handles the volume.
3. When on VPN, the web browser doesn’t show at all. You have to force close the app and it will only show up as an option in the network screen if VPN is off.

The BEST app ive ever used
Im not even joking this app has most of the features that you need: organising and renaming videos. But the best part is you can download yt videos from its inbuilt yt?! Bruh dawg thats the best app ive ever seen
Works for what I need
I’ve used this for almost as long as I’ve had a phone now, and it always works. No invasive ads, no constant begging for buying the pro version. Just a one time screen each time it’s opened and that’s it, and you get access to the full functionality of the app without paying. Or rather the full functionality of the video player, I’m unsure about anything else as I use this for webm, mov, and other such files

I was a great application till now…
Why does it load so slow after the last update? In my opinion this app is overgrown now and I would downgrade if I could. Any chance to release a basic version without all those unnecessary features? Thanks.

the app is useless now, new version takes forever to download a youtube doco or won’t download it all. Was a good app now rubbish. No response from developers after trying to contact them.
Good player
Tried many players but so far this works best. Just two issues I find annoying. If watching or listening in landscape mode when returning to view the library it reverts to portrait mode forcing me to have to rotate the iPhone manually. Also can’t browse my music library without the music stopping so I can’t choose the next song or build a playlist while music is playing.

The February 2024 updates and “bug fixes”
I’ve used PlayerXtreme for many years and personally I’d be much happier to have the original version from years back. But I’ve grown and accept change must be made. And I can ignore the “suite” of bloatware that I’m encouraged to partake of since it’s “free” with my pro level.
The newest bug fixes and updates have taken a very usable video player that was very easy to airplay with, and made it a clunky system.
Example. Before February 2024 you open AirPlay and connect to tv and you’d the folders and file view on your phone and tv both. Once you started a video it would black screen the phone and open full screen on the tv.
Only the video would be on the tv and only the controls would show on the phone. Now as of February 2024 it’s a mirror of the phone at all times. If you pick up the phone to fast forward rewind skip or anything the controls cover half the picture and if you rotate position the tv picture does as well. And as always there appears no way to undo these unwanted changes.
TLDR: playerextreme makes external screen always mirror phone view and rotation completely.
