I bought this app because I want a simple audiobook player for files I bought online through HumbleBundle. This app required me to click “import from iCloud” to browse my local files which made no sense, decided “7, 2, 5, 8, 1…” was the correct serial order for the chapters, and after I selected them all in this app and clicked delete media so that I could try and import them again, it DELETED THE LOCAL FILES. I’d love to know why the developer thought people would obviously rather wipe the files from their device, and not just remove them from this application.

I'm not sure what do you mean by "the local files", because iOS apps don't have access to the filesystem outside of the sandbox. The app has its own local media file storage and manages files only in this storage. This is not technically possible to delete files from iCloud using the app as well. Also the app has built in functionality to sort files, there's no needs to re-import them.
