User reviews

Media Player is broken

So I was able to upload my song stems into the player and that was an easy straight forward process. I spent the extra $4.99 to unlock the full version. When I pressed the play button it played like it should, however, when I hit pause it does nothing, when I bring up the mixer after trying to pause it, I have no control over the mixer. After hitting the pause button I lose control over all buttons and the only way to get it to stop playing is to completely close the app. I like the app, I would like to use the app, but if I cannot pause it and then can’t do anything with it, then it’s not worth it even if it’s free.

FAQ

What is PlayStems used for?

PlayStems is used to play multiple audio tracks (stems) from a song in sync, allowing users to control volume, mute, solo, and balance each stem individually. It's ideal for rehearsing, performing, or practicing specific sections of a song.

Can PlayStems split audio tracks on my device?

Yes, PlayStems offers on-device stem splitting, separating mixed tracks into vocals, bass, drums, and other components. This feature requires a supported device with at least 4 GB of memory, such as an iPhone 13 or newer, or an iPad Pro 2018 or newer.

What are the limitations of the free version of PlayStems?

The free version of PlayStems limits you to 1 song in your library (or up to 5 if you opt into anonymous usage analytics) and up to 10 successful stem splits on your device. High-quality stem-splitting models are also reserved for the full version.

How do I unlock unlimited features in PlayStems?

The full version of PlayStems can be unlocked with a one-time purchase, which removes all limits on songs and stem splits. You can also download high-quality stem-splitting models with the full version.

Does PlayStems work offline?

The description does not explicitly state offline functionality, but the on-device stem splitting and playback suggest it is designed to work without a constant internet connection once audio files are imported.

What devices are compatible with PlayStems?

PlayStems is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices. Specific requirements include iPhone 13 or newer, iPad Pro 2018 or newer, iPad Air 2022 or newer, or a Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or newer).

How often is PlayStems updated?

The latest version of PlayStems was released on October 7, 2026, indicating recent development activity. Users can expect updates to improve features and compatibility.

Is PlayStems suitable for beginners?

PlayStems offers a range of features for both practice and performance. While stem splitting and advanced controls might appeal to experienced musicians, the core playback and mixer functions can be beneficial for beginners looking to dissect songs.
