Old app was better before the redesign ruined it
No on screen controls
Latest two updates have removed on screen controls unless you go into iOS accessibility settings to toggle the motion reduction settings.
Each update is worse
Now, there are no video controls on Plex iOS. It keeps getting worse and worse. I have a lifetime subscription which, in retrospect, was a real swindle on Plex’s part.
Play stop buttons disappeared
I cant stop or pause or play, the buttons disappeared.
Playback broken on iPhone
Longtime paid user. Playback broken on iOS app. No controls on screen during playback. Unusable without pulling your hair out in current state.

It’s so perfect that I can download stuff on there and is perfecto of course you have to do it. You have to download it if you wanna have the best app ever!!!

Don’t like new update
Plex in itself is awesome but, The new update is horrible , to many things got moved around ,liked having 1 main page so I could see everything at once not bounce back and forth between home page and my categories / folders …playlist creation seems to be gone as well the bookmark in it’s place is wonky to say the least. Put it back the way it was or at least give us the option to download an older version that worked great especially for ios and iPadOS …unfortunately the App Store doesn’t seem to have the option to go down to an earlier version of the app…please fix this
(The very next update, made it worse again I see no reason why the home page & library’s need to be in 2 separate pages before all the updates began everything worked great no problem you had at the top what you have Been watching (I.E. home) and along the side you had all your libraries that you could get to very fast. Now on the Home Screen what you have been watching is gone and below where that would have been is a vertical scrolling long line of your libraries that are just plain horribly placed on the Home Screen…personally who ever has been trying to re-design this app is just not good at their job)

App freezes too much
Up until recently, I’ve had no issues with the app. The latest update is frozen the screen and made my own library. Unacceptable.
Player controls broken (still)
Weeks of essential feature broken… latest update? PLAYER IS REMAINS BROKEN. Avoid this app for media. Walk, no run to jellyfin

This app crashes regularly. It is not useable. Plex does not care about their Apple apps. It will never work. Don’t waste your money like I did.

TERRIBLE UPDATE - PLEX RUINED
Update August 08 2026 - Surely this update deserves zero stars 😩 As a lifetime Plex pass user, where do I begin? On screen controls have been removed. PLAY BUTTON REMOVED! Want to rewind or fast forward? No you don’t - those control have been removed too! This update has completely ruined the Plex iOS app. Whatever unpaid intern designed this needs to go back to community college. The Plex Devs need to hire an actual professional. The UX is absolutely appalling, you can no longer swipe left to access all the different Media folders. You cannot customise the homepage/dashboard. I am now forced to watch all the slop that Plex is forcing on me, like live TV and free movies. Stuff that I have absolutely no interest in watching. I only want to see my own library. You want to refresh a folder? Please enjoy your endless menu diving. How can I can go back to the previous version? If you’re reading this review, for the love of God I hope you haven’t updated like the rest of us poor sods. PLEX developers, if you happen to read this comment, please let your shareholders know that you have annoyed a huge amount of people, and I personally have nothing good to say about Plex anymore, and I will actively advocate -AVOID PLEX.

Broken after latest update
On screen controls on my iPad are gone. PiP will show controls but full screen has no slider or play/pause.
Last update broke plex
All the play controls disappeared in the iOS app during the last update.
iPhone app crash during playback and support team doesn't care
Reporting issue on play back with subtitle crashing system has been ignore by developers. Has been ages and still no fix.
