About
From Arenal Volcano to Chirripó, from Ballena Marine Park to the Caño Negro wetlands: PNCR brings together 94 national parks, biological reserves, wildlife refuges, wetlands, national monuments, indigenous territories and waterfalls of Costa Rica in a single app — built for planning a trip and for improvising a detour.
WHAT YOU GET
• An interactive map of the whole country, one pin per protected area, filtered by category
• A detailed page for each of the 94 areas: what to know before you go, its history, practical visiting information, and the wildlife you may encounter
• Opening hours and booking requirements, with a direct link to the official SINAC site
• Directions to the entrance, opened in Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze
• 62 articles to understand what you are looking at: volcanoes, cloud forests, turtles, sloths, dry season and green season
• Favorites, to shape your route as you go
BUILT FOR TRAVEL
Coverage gets unreliable the moment you leave the Central Valley. Map tiles you have already viewed stay available offline, and every park page and article ships inside the app: your information holds at the gate of an Osa Peninsula park as well as deep in Talamanca.
No account, no sign-up, no password. You open the app and it works.
FOUR LANGUAGES
English, Spanish, French and Portuguese — descriptions, articles and interface all follow the language you pick.
PRIVACY-RESPECTING
No account means no name, no email address, no phone number. Your location is only used to place you on the map and never leaves your device. The app is free, with no ads and no banners: nothing comes between you and the content.
DISCLAIMER
PNCR is an independent app with no official affiliation to SINAC or the government of Costa Rica. Hours, fees and access conditions change: always confirm with official sources before travelling. Directions are indicative, and some access roads require a four-wheel-drive vehicle.
