Full screen ads

Egregious full screen ads, unreliable login, and drop in content quality has led me to realize how much less frequently I even bother opening the app. It's a shame.

Not much news coverage

Since the Herald was sold and the news people were let go or left the paper has suffered greatly from a lack of news coverage especially for local news.

Disorganized Content

The news feed is so disorganized. The news, sports and other articles run together.
I suggest categories to choose your topic.
I am considering canceling my subscription because the content is not comparable to the Guardian.

No Landscape View !!!!

Poor try…

The revised “SaltWire” web site was designed for smartphones not iPads. It is difficult to navigate, skinny on news, and a vague excuse for journalism. Good luck. Nice try. I plan to drop my subscription. Bye…

Not Recommended

This app loaded automatically on my iPad yesterday and my other independent news provider (not PNI) was deleted. I was not consulted. Very bad business practice. The app is clunky, slow, does not display well (no landscape orientation), is full of advertisements, and the stories neither catch the eye visually nor are they interesting….or what I want to read. How to kill nearly 200 years of Atlantic news reporting excellence. App now deleted and not recommended.

Don’t subscribe !

I emailed, called, even tried their online inquiry page to cancel my subscription before it was due, and I still got charged a week later! I’m not giving up but don’t recommend SaltWire online edition for sure.

account access

It seems I can no longer access news and can’t find out why. No idea how to check the status of my account.

Logging into app

The app repeatedly logs me out; now does not allow me to log in even when the identical credentials are used to successfully log into the website. I have tried deleting and then re-adding the app to ensure I have the most current version.

Looks like an App from 1952

Considering they charge an arm and a leg for half researched articles written by hacks, this app should be banned from not only the App Store but also the solar system. Do better you thieves.

Poor quality, neglected app

SW E-Edition is a good app. This isn’t.

- Still logs you out of your account, despite years of user feedback.
- Still opens links to articles in a Safari view that you have to log into separately.
- Still fails to accept valid login credentials.

Very few new stories

I’m looking for news not “olds”. Stories stay front and center for weeks.

Login error

App Won’t stay logged in, keeps asking to login constantly.

Needs work

I want to like this app, especially now that Bill C-11 is being enforced but, this needs work. Add a “remember this account” feature so I don’t have to log in every time I try to read an article. Every. Single. Time. I click on an article it asks me to log in and when I do the “log in” text at the bottom of the screen just stays there and wants me to do it again. I wonder does the website work any better?

They’ll never get it right, will they?

It doesn’t matter how much funding this outfit gets from the feds, they’ll never get it right.

Even with tax payer money keeping them afloat they still can’t produce a product worth the cost of a subscription.

coordinating passwords is a bit of an issue

I signed up for Saltwire e-editions newspapers but happily take a news aggregate as well. Only problem was that my password from the e-editions app did not translate over to this app.

Almost 40 minutes on the phone with a very helpful and very courteous person and we figured that certain characters (%, ^ and quite likely others) can be used in the password for the e-editions app but not the news app. Once that was figured out, both apps accept the same password and work as they should.

Nice app and I love that I do not have to go hunting for rural NS news.

Unable to log in!

Despite being a long time subscriber with valid credentials on your other sites (SW E-editions, Saltwire.com), I’m no longer able to log into this app. As a result, I’m unable to view most of the news items. Please remove the pay wall until this issue is fixed. I am definitely not getting what I’m paying for!

Why do I have to keep logging in?

Although the App itself works well, and even give me push notifications when significant news stories come up, it’s really irritating to tap on one of these stories, and being asked to log in to read the story. It seems that I’m forced to log in every second day or so.

Why can’t the App keep me logged in as it should, as other apps like the New York Times App and the Globe and Mail App do?

I’ve even been in touch with customer support who said that I should stay logged in, since that’s the way that it’s supposed to work, but clearly, it doesn’t work that way. Customer support was useless in this case.

I would rate this 5 stars if this log in issue could be addressed.

Login ridiculous

This app is faulty. Even though I’m logged in I can’t read stories as it wants me to log in. When I attempt to login I get a message that it failed. I’ve checked my credentials and I also went on their website with a desktop and I get logged in. The app is frustratingly ridiculous. Very dissatisfied. I’ve deleted it and I’m thinking of cancelling my subscription.

Not able to log in

Every time I go to read an article I have to login, then it will not accept my info. Unhappy subscriber
