Predatory prices
These prices are ridiculous. $1.99 for 15 tokens will allow you to listen to one episode. You will end up paying thousands to listen to one of the stories. This is outrageous and this app needs a serious upgrade.
Switches from video to pictures to just audio
I found these stories entertaining, however the ones that start out as movies eventually switch to just pictures and eventually will switch to just audio. This is super disappointing because you get invested and then I feel like the terms change and you aren’t given any warning. Feels like false advertising. I’m just glad I didn’t spend any money with the assumption that the video continues throughout the whole series because then I would be really angry. I’ll just switch back over to PineBox, which are completely animated.

>$100 per book!!!!
The coin/unlock model here is wildly predatory. When unlocking an entire book can easily cost hundreds—or even up to $1,000—something is seriously wrong with the monetization.
Pocket FM’s micro-chapter coin system relies on the sunk-cost fallacy and drip-feed microtransactions. Because popular series often run between 800 to over 1,500 episodes—and each episode costs coins that scale up as you binge—users routinely calculate the full-run cost well into the hundreds or even $1,000+ range, far surpassing any traditional subscription service or physical book purchase.

Incredible
I stumbled on this app about a year ago and have been listening to it ever since this app is absolutely phenomenal. The stories are great. There’s absolutely nothing I dislike about this app at all download it.
