About

Pocket Patient is a clinical simulation app for Rutgers psychiatry coursework. Students practice diagnostic reasoning with AI-simulated patients, the way real patient messaging works. HOW IT WORKS Your professor releases disease cases through course units. When a new case opens, a simulated patient reaches out with a distinct psychiatric presentation, each with its own way of speaking and behaving. Message back and forth like a patient portal: ask questions, build a history, and work toward a diagnosis. Patients reply on their own time, sometimes quickly and sometimes hours later, and may follow up if you go quiet. DIAGNOSE AND GET FEEDBACK When you're ready, submit a primary diagnosis, differentials and your clinical justification. You'll get a score, feedback on your reasoning and, if you're off, a hint to keep working the case. TRACK YOUR PROGRESS See your score trend, performance by diagnostic category, and how your response time changes. Review the transcript of any past case. FOR PROFESSORS Create courses, upload disease case documents, release units on your schedule, and follow your class with score distributions, category heatmaps, per-student drill-downs and grade export. BUILT FOR COURSEWORK - Sign in with your Rutgers account using Google, Apple, or email and password - Notifications when a patient replies or a new case opens, with quiet hours - AI features only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time - Report any AI response with one tap Pocket Patient is for education only and does not provide medical advice. It requires a @rutgers.edu or @scarletmail.rutgers.edu account.
