Fantastic add-on/ replacement app to PocketSmith!
Response from developer
Hi Lola Flinstone! So glad to have you back. Thank you for this wonderful review. Looking forward to all the suggestions and feedback! GS
$14.95 and its unusable.

The app description states this very clearly. Please have a look: ——— PocketLion is an intuitive and simple iPhone, iPad and Mac app aimed to help managing your finances. PocketLion is not offering subscriptions to its services at this time. PocketLion uses the PocketSmith backend, an online financial tool for tracking bank and credit card transactions, budgets, cash flow etc. Our users must create a free or paid account with PocketSmith to be able to sign in to the app. ——- Why are you ripped off, Sassy ninja 22? Too hard to work with
Response from developer
Hello. There is no monthly fee. It’s a one time purchase. Can I help with anything re setup? All that’s needed is creating an account via the PocketSmith web site.
Fantastic app
Response from developer
Thank you 😊 Please let me know what we can improve in the app.
Terrific App!
Response from developer
Thank you so much!
Fantastic
It is also far more feature complete than the default app.

Thank you very much for the great review.
Better than the official app.
Thanks for making this app.
Response from developer
Thanks so much. Please feel free to send me your new feature suggestions. Will make sure to try to implement. Thanks again 😀
Stylish minimalist finance app
I really liked the trend lines on the accounts screen, and the PL developer has indeed found a nice way to offer practically as much information on an iOS app as the PocketSmith website does... particularly around budgets and something of an emphasis on the Cashflow statement. Good form with the notifications too, bringing to attention those pesky transactions that should be categorised and perhaps edited.
The rather useful rolling 30-day expenditure report is now found in Expenses! One further suggestion is to add the ability to recall payees, though categories are accurately suggested after entering an existing payee. The developer is active (witness response to said feature request in a prior review) and new features may well be on the way.
A decent, if marginally expensive one-time purchase (plus tips if there be surplus value) that complements the PocketSmith system.
Response from developer
Thank you for the detailed and thoughtful review. I’d be happy to add the 30 day rolling cash flow report. Will try to make sense of it on the web site. Or if you don’t mind can you please send me a note on how the date ranges work in this scenario? Edit: Version 2021.7 adds an option for rolling 30 days window for the expense reports. Please let me know how this works for you.
Unusable!!!! Buyer beware!!!!
Signed up for the free account at the website.
Went back to the app and logged in.
1. I get error messages on every tab that I click.
2. The parent category does not even work.
3. The website sinks down to the app but the website is a very bad experience with a phone.

Mr. Gleaves! Thanks for your review. if you read the app description it states that: PocketLion for PocketSmith is a native universal 3rd-party iOS client app for PocketSmith, an online financial tool for tracking bank and credit card transactions, budgets, cash flow etc. PocketLion is not offering subscriptions to its services. PocketLion is a front end client app for PocketSmith. PocketSmith as a SAS system offers free or paid subscriptions, PocketLion does not: it is a mobile app for users who already have a PocketSmith subscription. In order to sign in to PocketLion either a free or a paid subscription for PocketSmith is needed. ----- if you are running into errors, please send me your app logs using the app and I will fix them immediately. If you care to read any of the previous reviews, you will see that I care about the quality of the app and attend to any issues immediately.
A great alternative to the PocketSmith App
What the pocketsmith app does:
Gives you a general overview of your profile
Tracks budgets
Displays net worth
Categorises transactions
Passcode lock only
What this app does:
All of the above plus:
Cashflow statements
Trends
Amend categories
FaceID/TouchID support
If any of those features are important to have on your mobile device, then get this app.
4 Stars because I believe they could add more desktop level functionality. The bones are there. Such as:
View budgets by custom times. E.g. make all budget categories present over the same timeframe.
Account balance over time graphs
Calendar view
Scan receipts
Must have app. Using daily
Easy to navigate. Great experience.
Developer is very responsive and have implemented a few of my suggestions.
Keep it up!
Easy to understand
Response from developer
Thank you very much for your support! We are finalizing some updates for iOS 13 compatibility and should release in the next days.
Makes PocketSmith better

😍
Much better than the PocketSmith app
Response from developer
Appreciate your feedback and thank you for the kind words! PocketLion:)
Better than the native PocketSmith app
Pros:
+Easy to use interface
+Ability to see transactions related to each budget category
+Cashflow reporting
+Great budget view
Cons:
-No projection or calendar feature (this could easily be an agenda type calendar display)
-No "Income & Expense" report to show debits and credits by category side by side.
Bottom line, PocketLion has most of the features that I need. And with a few additions will be even better, worth double the price, and get 5 stars from me.

Thank you for your great feedback. I'm looking into adding a calendar display but this functionality is contingent on support from PocketSmith APIs. Also designing a calendar view for a small phone screen has its own challenges. I'm open to suggestions! Also if you could provide more details in the "Income & Expense" report I'd be glad to add that. Thanks again! :)
Don’t waste your money
Response from developer
While I appreciate your feedback, dear user, we can only do so much with the APIs PocketSmith provides to 3rd party developers. Furthermore if your particular use case does not include a need for historical data it doesn't mean that other users do not need this functionality. Apple can provide you a refund if the application does meet your requirements. Nowhere was the application misrepresented with regards to its capabilities.
Useful adjunct to Pocket Smith app
Functional app but missing core features
Response from developer
Hi ajax27. The Budgets feature has been implemented in version 2016.11 released Dec 4, 2016. Thanks, PocketLion
Solid App. Well designed. Better than PocketSmith app.

Thank you!
Crashes every time
Response from developer
Hi Mission_Control, On Feb 22, 2017 PocketLion started experiencing crashes due to a PocketSmith API change that was not reverse compatible. We released a fix next day in version 2017.3. Hope you are able to enjoy the app. Thanks, PocketLion
