Not worth it

They employ a data capture model that acquires your email address then ask you to pay for a subscription to use the app. Even if you don’t subscribe they are still selling your email address and name.

Why not out the pricing up front?!

Response from developer

Hi there! Joy from Podbeat here. We now have the option of sending an SMS code through email and phone. It used to be an App requirement to do it only through a phone number, but now we have both options. Our monthly subscription of $3.33 is a minimum cost to keep the App up to date with every IOS update, as well as pay our DJ's appropriately to create a new beat every week for subscribers. We DO NOT support AI music because it cannot be crafted to help with focus, energy and motivation the same way working directly with a DJ can. We also never sell data, we know that is private and respect that. If you have any questions, find me at founders@podbeat.app Joy Co-Founder of Podbeat

Feedback is Everything

Turning a Podcast into music for my playlist has been so cool. And it even lets me email the Founders of the App to make suggestions. I wanted a certain music Best style and they added it when I asked which is so fun. Love the Podbeat App and I’m using it for Audiobooks too which I hadn’t done before.

Lot of variety but good for just background

Honestly I find myself just listening to the beat while doing work or chores, no lyrics to distract me

Music integration into busy lives

Very clever idea, allows, multitasking, specifically listening to podcasts, for example, while breaking out in a sweat on a stairmaster or treadmill…. supported by an upbeat, motivating groove.

No more subscriptions

Requires phone number and committing to receive texts before it shows you the price. Unable to even try without committing to a subscription. It’s an interesting concept. Would pay a single fee, but I’m done with subscriptions.

SMS never received

Can’t get the app to work, no text received.

Useless

Code to activate never arrives, shouldn't even be on the app store at this point

Too slow

Max beat is 130 bpm. Most runners use 160-180 bpm when running.

Response from developer

Hi music and redsox, My name is Joy, Co-Founder of Podbeat. While 180 BPM is an ideal 'running' pace, musically it becomes distorted when the media player speeds up music at that rate. Our DJ's are working on a specific style of 180 BPM 'pace' music that is designed for a marathon runner. We should have this available in the next few weeks. Feel free to follow up with me directly at founders@podbeat.app

Unnecessary grabbing info

Why do I need to give my phone number and accept text messages before I can even review/see what the apps about. This is why I randomly get text messages from spammers. You don’t need this info. At least not in this beginning phase. Will rather not use app.

Response from developer

Hi lilguycast, I'm Joy Co-Founder of Podbeat. We now have the option of sending an SMS code through email. It used to be an App requirement to do it only through a phone number, but now we have both options. Thank you for trying it!

Can’t even open?

I can’t even open app when I do it prompts me to try some add for their add ons. I can’t click out or do anything it soft locks me at the start. What a joke of UI

Response from developer

Hi Chris, I'm Joy, Co-Founder of Podbeat. This has been fixed. We were switching SMS 'Code' providers and it caused a disruption in codes being sent out for a few days. We also now have the option of sending an SMS code through email. It used to be an App requirement to do it only through a phone number, but now we have both options. If you ever need anything, please message me at founders@podbeat.app

No code sent to phone

Advertisement seem liked a good idea. Never received sign up code via text

No OTP sent but random numbers work!

Seems like an ok app. It’s essentially a player that will allow you to open a second music or podcast app at the same time. It contains a number of looped beats sorted by genre. Could be improved by giving BPM of each loop or allowing you to adjust the BPM yourself. Probably not worth the amount they want for a subscription (about £4pm)

SMS code doesn’t arrive

It’s impossible to try this app, it requires your phone number first thing and when you enter it it claims that the app will send you a code, but the code never arrives (UK number). No alternative method is offered. Absolutely useless.

Too Expensive

Cool idea but it’s not something I’m going to pay an annual or monthly subscription for. Charge me a one time $1-5 and call it good, not doing another subscription model. Also, they make you give up your phone number before telling you the cost, somewhat shady.

Doesn’t work

Code to install didn’t arrive

Waste of time

Don’t Bother

First they require your phone number, and force you to agree to receive spam text messages,. Then you can’t even try or see the app unless you subscribe to it with a monthly fee. This has all the signs of a scammer app.

Doesn’t Work

You can’t register because the OTP doesn’t get sent. Waste of time, don’t bother.

I dont fully understand

I think its a well intentioned idea but when i listening to a podcast, i dont want to be listening to music.

However I did try it anyway and was disappointed I could not use my own music.

The beats/music built into the app is bad and very repetitive.

Can’t get past startup

Update still doesn’t work. The app asks for a phone number to text a login code but I never receive the code.
