Your shows and artwork are ready on the first screen, and the app no longer downloads codex data from the home screen. FAQ
What is PodcastCodex?
PodcastCodex is a podcast player specifically designed for serialized fiction and history shows. It features a unique 'codex' that provides story recaps and character information based on your listening progress, ensuring no spoilers.
How does the codex prevent spoilers in PodcastCodex?
The codex is gated to your playhead, meaning it only shows information up to the episodes you have already listened to. This prevents you from encountering plot points or character reveals before you've heard them.
Can I listen to podcasts offline with PodcastCodex?
Yes, PodcastCodex allows you to stream or download episodes for offline listening. You can also adjust playback speed from 0.8x to 3.0x with per-show settings.
How does PodcastCodex handle shows that aren't covered yet?
The first five episodes of every codex are free. If your desired show is not yet covered, you can submit a 'wish' for it, and the developers use these wishes to decide what content to build next.
What are the unlocking options for PodcastCodex?
You can unlock individual shows by purchasing them once. Alternatively, you can subscribe to 'allaccess' for access to every codex, which includes a one-month free trial.
What devices does PodcastCodex support?
PodcastCodex is available on iPhone and iPad devices. It has an age rating of 4+.
How often is PodcastCodex updated?
PodcastCodex was last updated on September 30, 2026, with version 1.0. Future updates will likely be released to add new content and features.
Does PodcastCodex have ads?
No, PodcastCodex is ad-free. The app offers a freemium model where users can access content for free or unlock it through purchases or subscriptions.
