The ads make it near impassible to use now. Toss in auto join bots for popular ones and no one can raid.
Players only host 5 star raids and rarely anything else. Even verified raids are not always what they claim to be. Too many players fail to understand raid mechanics and bomb a raid fast. The 8 star raids need more than 6 and players do not understand that. You also get players too low level to beat the boss up and raid failed.
I have moved onto other nonspammy apps and had more success with hard core players that understand game mechanics.
