About

This app is a multi-lane polyphonic sequencer plugin for creating evolving musical patterns. It allows for independent control of rhythm, pitch, and modulation across multiple lanes, generating complex and unique sequences in real-time. Ideal for generative music and experimental pattern creation.

Multi-lane sequencer with 4 independent lanes
Pattern-based structure with multiple patterns per lane
Advanced step parameters (pitch, velocity, gate, probability)
Chord-aware steps and chord strumming
Multiple step modes (random, chord, bass, hybrid)
Polyrhythmic playback with differing lane/pattern lengths
Probabilistic sequencing with per-step chance

What's New in PolyPipe

1.01

March 27, 2026

1.01 B41 Added a new Drum Editor which works alongside the 4 ARPs. Create drum patterns up to 64 beats (4 bars) in length for each drum pattern. Added a condiguration so you can choose GM Midi, DigiStix or define your own mappings. Added a Drums folder to the pattern manager and added a few drum preset patterns. Added a Drums option to the MIDI shortcuts and added AU params to enable DRUM patterns and enable lane. Added a Drum Mixer allowing you to mix drums without having to deal with the configuration Drum Setup window. Fixed an issue where scrolling menus (in the Pattern Rhythm Generator) caused a crash in some cases. Fixed an issue where CC editing was showing the wrong popup name and not changing in the prompt. Added a Pattern Rhythm Generator for the Drums lane. Updated the manual with new screen shots and a short Drum Editor section. Changed the Rhythm Generator windows to reference patterns A-D and not #1-#4. Updated the help file with video links for the MasterClass videos.

Bingo

Finally, it was about time I had a sequencer that does everything—it's fantastic! But after all the other sequencers I bought before, I kept thinking, "Why don't they make a sequencer that does everything?" And here it is at last, after all these years!

user interface makes me want to smash things

one of those apps that is so horribly obtuse that by the time you figure it out your inspiration has been lost and you forget your idea. then when you come back to it a week later you discover you’ve forgotten how it works and have to relearn it and wish you’d never seen it.

Oh, and by the way, don’t even THINK of pressing the button with the circle icon (it says MIDI THRU when you press it), because once you do the app stops working and you have to reload it to get it working again. Why? No idea.

12 hrs. AFTER I buy it for $20 Cdn. The $ is cut IN HALF???

There were nothing set up for us not knowing about the sale, IN A FEW HOURS?? 😱

Very good!

A quite extraordinary arpeggiator that goes beyond the usual. It can be simplistic if that’s what you’re after, but can be really deep too. The drum editor/ arpeggiator is fantastic and makes this even more of a great app. Controlling four lanes of connected music apps, plus drums, or however you want to connect it up, makes for some seriously good rhythms. After watching the very informative YouTube videos, plus the manual, it’s fairly easy to get the idea and be surprised with the results. I really like it! P.S. the randomisation options are superb!

Pretty Incredible Arpeggiator/ Sequencer

If you are looking for a proper sequencer, this will suffice- but it’s much more a super arpeggiator.

Absolutely stunning app

FAQ

What is PolyPipe?

PolyPipe is a multi-lane, polyphonic AUv3 sequencer plugin designed for creating evolving musical patterns. It allows you to build multiple independent lanes, each with its own rhythm, pitch logic, and modulation data, to generate complex musical sequences in real-time.

How does PolyPipe create musical patterns?

PolyPipe takes incoming MIDI notes or internally generated notes as a "seed." These are then processed through patterns, scales, transposition rules, and step logic to generate new musical phrases. Each lane can have different lengths, directions, and step modes, creating natural phasing and variation.

What kind of musical logic does PolyPipe use?

PolyPipe applies musical logic at the MIDI output stage. Pitch values can be forced into a chosen scale and key, ensuring musical coherence even with experimental patterns. Different step modes allow each lane to behave uniquely, from traditional arpeggios to controlled chaos.

What are the advanced step parameters in PolyPipe?

Steps in PolyPipe can define pitch offsets, velocity, gate length, strumming, probability, repeats (ratchets), ties for legato behavior, and even chord information. This allows for highly detailed control over how each note or chord is played.

Does PolyPipe support chords?

Yes, PolyPipe features chord-aware steps, allowing steps to trigger chords, rotated voicings, or individual notes depending on the lane mode. It also includes chord strumming for guitar-like patterns.

Is PolyPipe suitable for generative music?

Absolutely. PolyPipe is especially suited for generative music due to its ability to create evolving sequences and its probabilistic sequencing features. Small changes to probability or step logic can dramatically alter the musical output while staying rhythmically locked.

What devices does PolyPipe support?

PolyPipe is supported on iPhone, iPad, and iPod. It functions as an AUv3 plugin, meaning it requires a compatible host application on these devices.

How much does PolyPipe cost?

PolyPipe is a paid application priced at $14.99. There are no in-app purchases or subscriptions mentioned for this application.
