pool test strip scanner User Reviews

Tried it and failed

I feel depending on the lighting , camera and phone you get different readings . They should make a color chart card and sell it for better accuracy so when you scan the strip with the color card in the back you get better results

Shake water off

Although the AquaChek 7 bottle clearly states to not shake off the excess water from the strip, the water droplets will cause the camera to get a false reading. I recommend shaking off the water at around 12 seconds of the 15 min countdown so that you can capture the image at the right time.

Not so accurate

Cyanuric acid shows 0, even on retest, results differ each time.

Save file

Would be great to attach a name to the saved strip reading

Excellent!!!

To make it work with AquaCheck7 strip you need to take the test strip out of the water colored side up with water staying on the strip and wait 15 seconds per instructions. After I started doing it right I completely agree with strip reading of the app. Even if you disagree, it gives the baseline. Super!

Add the reading visualization with charts and developer can start charging for it.

I Love This App!

I always have trouble identifying which color is closest to the one on the chart. The app quickly matches the color and gives you the appropriate results. You can also save the results which is very useful.

I wish I knew about this app sooner. Itโ€™s well worth the $1.99.

Good App for my Hot Tub

The developer fixed the save/crash issue about a year ago. I use this app all the time. Whatever accuracy issues it may have I blame on the test strips themselvesโ€”I always re-test my ph and sanitizer levels with a liquid kit and find that while the app is right on with the strip colors, the strip colors often vary from the liquid kit results. Perhaps when the strips get old they lose accuracy. But the app is great, much easier than trying to eyeball stuff from a color chart.

Very inaccurate results

Primarily on the Cyanuric acid. No matter the color, it scans as brown or โ€˜0โ€™.

Not reliable

I bought this app because I have a hard time deciding between 2 options on the test strips but this scanner read it way off and rescanning the same strip gave way different results.

A suggestion

Would be good to have a choice of type of pool: vinyl, fiberglass, gunite. So far I like it, how accurate it is , I'm not sure. Probably better than MY eye.

Hard to focus on time

Maybe with practice it will get better. I will update after longer use.

Don't buy

The app would be great if you could actually save your results. I am very frustrated because when I bought this I looked at their updates and they showed to have fixed the problem that was stated in an earlier review of app crashing when you try to save it. They lied about fixing the problem and though it was only $2.99, you hate to get taken advantage of. This would be a great app if they would do their due diligence and fix the app before sending it out. Stay away from this app.

What a huge potential

If this incorporated a chemical chart that could be user defined for gallons it would be truly amazing! Even if it just did hot tubs! It would be worth $20 to me. In other words scan strip and have app tell me what chemical and how much to add..

App Crashes on Save

Just downloaded app. Easy to get reading - but completely crashes when you try to save. I was hoping to easily log my results - and ideally some treatment recommendations. How did this make it thru QA?

Save test history broken, but otherwise good

Being careful to line everything up correctly will net good results. Unfortunately with this release, the save test function causes the app to crash. Developer: Please fix as this app is a very novel idea.

Also, be wary to follow the test strip manufacturer guidelines. Letting it over or under sit will skew the results dramatically.

Doesn't always work for me

Newest version crashes when I try to save a test.

I'm a pool tech and this app doesn't always work for me. When it does it's great.

However, I'd also like to see the aqua check 5 way strips added to this app.

Latest update on 6+ will not save

Overly sensitive to daylight lighting conditions. Should have way to measure lighting adequacy. Most recent update--app blows up & closes when saving result.

life easier App

Very Quite unique app which helps to track the chemical levels of pool. Really very useful and makes life easier in Summer time since my kids will spend lots of time in pools. So far it runs fine and hope the consistency maintains.

Doesn't match color chart on bottle.

Took picture in sunlight and shade. Different result than color chart indicator on bottle.

Simple

This pool test strip app is very simple and easy to use. The instructions are pretty clear.
