Has turned into a con
Purchased a yearly plan. Prequel proceeded to make most presets as AI, needing credits to be purchased to use them. The original value has decreased substantially as not a lot is left that does not use AI rendering the plan and the app useless if users are not prepared to constantly pay on top of plans for generation credits.

I can’t see how an app can’t or wont let people use the app as a free trial. I hate it that it doesn’t help other about it.

Used to be good.
I loved this app with my heart and soul. But then literally EVERYTHING became a cash grab. Even just a filter is “pro”. I will be deleting this app after using it for years. Today was my final straw, when I went to go edit photos and figured I can’t use a premade filter, so I adjusted the settings to my photo and saved my adjustments, when I went to go download my photo, I had to pay because it was considered “pro”. Absolutely ridiculous, do not download this app unless you want a headache and a waste of your time.

This app is full of scam tactics, subscribe to even use the app, then more money to use anything with credits. The amount of reviews of this app that are 5 stars is a clear indicator of fake reviews

This app is built almost entirely on AI effects and filters, but you’re not getting anything close to what you’re paying for. At $6/week or $48/month, it’s more expensive than most AI platforms, yet delivers significantly worse results.
Everything they advertise across Instagram (the G7X filter, AI retake, Film 35, Golden Hour, Backlight, Colour Relight, Selfie Cam, Polacam) looks nothing like what you actually get in the app. The effects are poorly applied, overly processed, and often borderline unusable compared to the promotional content.
Most of their “coveted” features are AI-driven (easily 90% of the app), and despite already charging a subscription, they operate on a CREDIT system. That means you’re paying twice—once for access, and again per use. On top of that, your photos are uploaded and processed through cloud-based systems involving third-party AI, which raises serious concerns about how your data is being handled.
Performance is another issue. A single effect can take anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes to render, only to produce results that look synthetic, overblown, cartoonish, and unnatural. Sometimes no changes are made at all, and after 8 minutes, you’ve wasted valuable time for nothing. Because your only option is to click a button, you have no control over how that effect is rendered either (the retake effect decides what changes with zero user input, for instance). I can’t imagine editing multiple photos with 10 minute pauses for a single effect, preset or otherwise.
If you want anything realistic, quality, or true to life, this isn’t it. There are far better (and more honest) programs available. Try Lightroom, VSCO, Tezza, anything before this hastily-adapted, substandard toy.
It’s hard to believe the influencer hype around this app is genuine. I doubt any creator is vouching for it without incentivization.

The new version ruined the effects of the filters they looked so much better and professional before and this now looks underwhelming as far as the lighting effects go
Loved it until
I’ve paid for prequel for years. I loved it and gotten incredibly insane beautiful photos and editing made easy. But now you have to pay even more. I’ve discontinued my renewal. When it’s done it’s done. Makes me sad.

Borderline Criminal Behavior: Bait and Switch
So yeah, the app is cool but they’re using the most disgustingly unethical marketing tactics. They present the features and prompt you to purchase a full subscription, and as soon as you do, you’re informed about AI credits (over 80% of the platform uses AI credits). Now every generation that you create consumes anywhere from 20 to 60 credits. And get this your entire yearly store is 320 credits. So about 10 images.
Incredibly scammy and honestly, they should be held liable by the FTC for cheating customers. Apple should de-platform them.
