I absolutely hate the new format. I am considering canceling the Portland Press Herald!!!
Terrible app that makes it hard to find the news
Headlines are often placed over photographs such that you can’t read them. Finding the news is almost impossible, and some sections don’t appear to be regularly included at all. And it’s ugly. Get rid if the “photos first” architecture. Update in real time.
Spelling
Doesn’t anyone check spelling any longer? I see a minimum of 2misspellings in the daily paper.
No Search Function?
Im not sure if Im just missing this basic functionality and if its hiding somewhere within the app but it seems to me that there is no way to search articles by subject (ie. Town name, etc). This seems like basic app 101….

No change to news
I’ve had the PPH for many years however the past four days the news has been the same. What’s going on?! Reloaded the app and same results.
Can’t reach a real person
I want to support local journalism. I actually do support it by being a subscriber. The link for app support only has options to donate to local news—no actual way to contact a person because the app hasn’t updated any stories in half a week. No option to reach anyone on the PPH site either. Thinking about retracting my support over this very concerning lack of transparency and prioritization of money in over all things, including subscriber support.

We have real journalism here!
Maine is fortunate to have a newspaper network as strong as we do, especially as we in greater Portland have in the Press Herald. Nevertheless, we need to hold our local paper to high standards. Like many papers across the USA, this paper is still not what it was years ago. Let’s work to make it as strong, and as essential to our community, as possible!

I really appreciate getting my local news and coverage of important issues through the Portland Press Herald. Their stories are interesting and well-researched. And it’s independently owned, not owned by one of those mega media companies. Very proud to support local journalism!

PPH Should be renamed - Social Work Journal
So tired of story after story about same old same old topics.
I am happy and welcoming to new. Mainers and work to help them personally.
BUT there is actually more going on in maine.
Kinda sad that the best stories about maine these days are in my morning NY Times.
