Faulty App

The list feature is the only thing that sets this app apart from the rest from this dev. Unfortunately, the list feature does not work as other reviews have stated. There is no other reason to use this. You also have to pay to access every category of the compendium. Steer clear of this one

Response from developer

Howdy TJ, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I reviewed the app and did see the issue that you are having. Someone else did post about this issue in a previous review so that is on me to not have fixed it by then. I have updated the app (3.7.0) and it should have the update to fix the list issue. As far as your evaluation of the benefits of the app, I will say that the app does offer a different way to interact with compendium elements in comparison to the other apps in our brand because it offers a more comprehensive voice/long form text search that the other apps would not be able to provide you with. For example, you could search "wizard and sorcerer", which the other apps would provide you with no valid search where this app would look at each word individually and the relationships between them. But I do admit, if you just need a simple text search, our other apps like the character sheet and the dm app will be your go to solutions.

It doesn’t work

The main reason for getting this app was because of the ability to make lists but that feature is currently not functional. Any items you add to a list will be deleted immediately after exiting the list except for “game rules” for some reason. Also in the list mode you aren’t able to click on weapons anything except game rules to read descriptions. Its just broken.

Excellent app

Great compendium app, super convenient to grab things. The dev is amazing, and like the rest of his apps I really like this one.

thanks!

I don’t know

I can’t get it to work for the life of me.

Hello FireKingMitch! I would be happy to help you work through this problem. So there are a couple of things that may be affecting your experience. One issue is permissions. If you accidentally give the app access to your microphone when you first installed the app, that app will not have the required permissions to be able to listen to your requests. You can check to see if this is the issue by checking out your Apple settings app and making sure that the app has the required permissions. The next thing to check is what type of request the app is looking for. In the settings of the app, there are two types of request types : press to talk or play/stop. If you are on press to talk, you need to have the button held down continuously while you make your request. If you have play/stop, then you just need to press play. Finally, depending on what device you are on, you may need to be connected to the internet. If you are using an iphone6 or later, you do not require the internet but if you are using an earlier device, you will need to be connected to the internet for this to work. Let me know if any of these suggestions help you out!

Needs to evolve

I really like that there is reference page numbers to player hand book, but it would be nice to have page references to monsters and dm hand books. As of this post it is a huge pain to make lists as searching doesn’t add correctly you have to scroll through everything to add properly. Sort of thought this would replace any need for other prism apps, no, but this is a super fast way to look some things up. Hope to see an update that adds a clearer and more complete list.

Hello Heavens, thanks for the review! I believe that we talked a bit in an email and I think I gave some information on what we are thinking. As far as that filtering bug, thanks for letting me know about that! I just submitted a patch for that and you should see that rolling out in the next day or two in patch 1.2.0 (ill follow up by email as well). If you follow our instagram, you'll know that one thing we are doing it trying to do a better job of keeping track of where a custom creation/content comes from (canon/homebrew/unearthed arcana). With that starting in the player app and being fleshed out, we hope to start rolling that out to all our other apps once that design is finalized. You are correct, prism djinn is not a replacement, all of our apps have a specific purpose. The player app is for character sheets/creation, the dm app for custom resources/initiative, and the djinn app is what we hope to be our "search engine". I think you mentioned that you were looking for import files and that is something we hope to be able to incorporate once we finalize how everything is saved in the player app. But as of this moment, everything in the app is what is available in the system reference document, the information that people are able to free distribute without licensing issues.
